Hi Cleggie. Yes, both the kids trips are residential. Weymouth PGL for my son for 5 nights (although it won't actually be "Parents get lost" for him as I am going as a staff helper because I am too worried about his Coeliacs and his diabetes, plus all of his food has to be carb counted so that he knows how much insulin to inject) and France for my daughter for 5 days. The reason I am paying for my son's and not my daughter's is that I have paid for her to do the Weymouth PGL for the last two years but said I couldn't afford France as well as her brother's PGL this year so she had supposedly worked it out with her Dad which is why it is so annoying that he is now letting her down.
I definitely have a food shopping addiction although most of the time I am actually very happy with the prices that I pay for individual things but we probably all eat too many unhealthy snacks & I am also a coke addict. Also a few things do end up being thrown away sometimes which is not good.
The Tes*o double up thing is something that they do twice a year I think and it allows you to use your reward vouchers that they send you every quarter to double up their value in store to spend on whatever is in their double up promotion which is usually small electrical (not tellys etc), clothes, toiletries and sometimes Tes*o finest food selection. Not too sure if I have actually explained that very well, sorry!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
The kids didnt want fishcakes for tea tonight, so i had a root around the freezer and found some chips and sausages. Blimey, i wont be winning any perfect mum awards, jam sandwiches for lunch, and chips for dinner
Just remember Cleggie, the kids will love you regardless, they don't care what food you give them or how much is in the cupboards.
Food doesnt equal love and happiness, it's all the other things you do for them that mean so much. They will remember the school trips and the activities you do with them in the years to come, not what meals you gave them.
Hopefully we can all help you fight the addiction to having full cupboards/ freezers.
Each time you head to the SM just remember what you could be doing with the money, and not lining the pockets of Mr T's* directors etc (* edit as required for your SM of choice) just so your cupboards are full.
Now i am just off to practice what i preach....:rotfl:
Lots of love.

Good morning!
Well, my NO SM pledge starts today and i am confident that i can do it!
Thanks ETO for the kind words, you are right, they wont remember what i feed them! I certainly dont remember what i was fed as a child, but i do remember holidays etc. Just goes to show what kids remember doesnt it!
LTSally- i too eat too much unhealthy stuff! I quit smoking 18months ago and have gained just over a stone as i substituted nicotine for sweets and crisps...i MUST lose this stone, so hopefully this NO SM pledge will help with that!
Right, i am off to get the kids all ready for school etc. Catch you later!0 -

Hi Coxy, thanks for coming on over! I'll have to put the kettle on soon!
Well, i havent been in any supermarkets at all today..YAY!!:j
I am going on the train to London on Saturday and am trying to have a look around for the cheapest tickets.
I have worked out that if i buy 2 singles, its cheaper than a return ticket, but its still quite expensive at £79!
If anyone has any ideas how to get it cheaper, please et me know!
I am not sure what to do in regards to dinner on Saturday as i will be eaving home at 7.50am and not getting home until 10.20pm. I will take a packed breakfast to eat on the train on the way up there, and a packed lunch to eat whilst there, but not sure what to do about dinner as i cant wait until about 10.30pm to eat dinner! And dont want to spend too much money on eating something out!
Any suggestions welcome!

Hi Cleggie, well done for staying away from the dreaded SM. :T Remember, it's our money and we're not giving it up easily!
Loving your diary, reading everyone's positive changes is making me continue cutting back wherever I can so since I came home from work I have already made tomorrow's packed lunches, changed the line rental for a cheaper deal and cancelled sky movies. It does get rather addictive doesn't it?:DMake £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020
