    I WANT TO GO SHOPPING!!!

Just had to get that out of my system :o
Not sure why its bothering me so much today.
OK, time for a pro/con list:

    Pros of going shopping:

    Cons of going shopping:
I dont need to, we have plenty in the house
I dont want to give the SMs my hard earned money
    Its pointless
I want to save money towards a holiday, not buy food with it
I want to reach my target of having a week SM free!

Well.... I think the pro / con list sums it up nicely!:D

Is there something else you can think to do for when you get the "shopping urge"? - a bit like smokers trying to quit? (the "I always have one with a coffee / after dinner / walking the dog" etc).

What about spending some time hunting around for holiday bargains?

If that's your aim to save money for then looking should hopefully help and keep drumming in .... sm or holiday .... sm or holiday .... sm or holiday - I know which I'd rather have!:)

Thanks rising, thats exactly what i have done, looked through some holiday brochures.

I *MIGHT* be getting a bursary from my uni in the next few months and i have been thinking about what to do with it.

I could be 100% sensible and clear off the rest of my debt with it, as that would make me DF! BUT i have decided not to. I am going to take the kids on holiday instead.

Because of the massive debt i have had in the past, i have never been able to take them abroad, and this may be the only chance for a while, so i am going to do it. A week All Inclusive, somewhere nice and hot.

The debt will be cleared in April, with my final student loan payment, so i know its going to be paid off soon anyway.

I was so close to popping into tesco and doing a big shop today, but i am so glad that i didnt!!

How about putting a picture of somewhere lovely and hot on the fridge door so if you get the shopping urge you can be instantly reminded why you mustn't overspend? Or do what I did today, next time you do HAVE to go to the SM don't take any cards, just some cash to cover the essentials.

It's bloomin' hard though isn't it? We were paid some money today and I instantly wanted a treat. Instead I paid off some debt like a good girl. Will be polishing my halo later!!

    Stay strong.

    Hi Barbeduk,

I am the same, as soon as i get money i want it to be spent! I have saved up About £500 now, which may not sound a lot, but for me that HUGE as i have never been able to save before, as i would spend every penny. Although i think i may use £80 of that to clear my CC this evening.

I might cut out a pic from the holiday brochure and stick it on the fridge next to the weekly shopping list! Good idea Barbeduk, thanks!

I think Friday will have to be food shopping day this week, as Saturday i will be in London all day, so will be out from 7.30am-10pm, and Sunday i will have to pick the kids up from their dads, then get everything ready for the week ahead. So Friday makes sense!

    Today i have:
    Avoided SMs :)
    Checked OLB

And thats it today, doesnt look like i did much does it!!

Firstly, well done for saving the money. You should give yourself lots of credit for that.

Secondly, just because you have only listed two things, doesn't mean you haven't done much today!!! To be honest, I used to have sm cravings, and the withdrawal symptoms are really bad. I got used to going every day, and when I tried to go just once a week, I was thinking about the sm every minute!! It's just like a diet - if you know you can't have it, you want it! So, avoiding the sms is a huge thing for you to have done today, and you have my congratulations. Go easy on yourself!!

That's a great sum to have saved up too. You must be so looking forwrd to taking the littlies away. I think you are :A

I haven't been on today until now as had a long day today, and will have another tomorrow, but I try to catchup when I get in if I can.

That seems a very sensible plan for Friday doing the shopping. Make sure you do your list! ;)

Good luck for tomorrow and I'll catch up in the evening hopefully.

    Take care,
