I walked my youngest son to school this morning, so saved on petrol.
My oldest son walks himself to school, as the secondary school is only a 2 min walk away.

I have enough petrol (just!!) to get to counselling this afternoon, via my friends house for coffee.

I ALMOST transferred some money from my emergency savings account, into my main account this morning, so that i could go and buy things that i didnt need at the SM!! Its ok, i managed to resist though!! :)

Hope you all have a good day!

    Morning Cleggie

I'm just making a batch of soup, spicy carrot and lentil and naturally I thought of you, so here it is!

    • 1 tsp powdered cumin
    • pinch chilli flakes
    • 2 tbsp oil
    • 1 onion chopped
    • 600g carrots , washed and coarsely chopped
    • 140g split red lentils
    • 1ltr hot vegetable stock (from a cube is fine)
    • 125ml milk
    1. Add the oil to the pan cook the lentils with the spices for one minute then add carrot, stock and milk to the pan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 mins until the lentils have swollen and softened.
    2. Whizz the soup with a stick blender or in a food processor until smooth (or leave it chunky if you prefer). Season to taste and finish with a dollop of yogurt. Serve with warmed naan breads.

Thanks for that, Piquant! I have all of these things in, and I often have a glut of carrots from work, wondering what to do with them! Of course, now I have this recipe, I won't get any, will I?!?! I have saved this in my recipes to try file!

Well done Cleggie for resisting the urge to transfer! I have been so rubbish this week - I spent over £60 in sms over the weekend, and then did a £35 order on AP! What's going on with me? I'm not even hormonal, as that's been and gone! ARGH!!

Thanks Piq, that sounds really yummy! I dont have a hand bender,or a food processor, so am likely to leave it chuncky and devour it with a big bit of crusty bread-mmm, nice :)

Well, i have checked my OLB already this morning, and am going to spend the rest of the day doing exam revision. I did quite a bit last night, but was in bed by 8pm as i was so tired!

PG- do you have any idea why you have been ovespending this week in the SMs?

I need to pop into tesc0 and get some milk (AGAIN!!) today, so will only be buying that and nothing else!

    Me again!

Have walked my son to school, will also be walking to pick him up, even though its raining :)

Have asked the headteacher at the primary school and the headteacher at the secondary school about term time holidays (for our hoiday), as i have never taken them out of school before.

They both said that it wont be a problem as both the kids have 100% attendance, but the secondary school said that my oldest sons will go down as unauthorised because they arent actually allowed to authorise any holiday, although people still can (and do) take them out.
I am a bit worried about that, as neither of them have ever had any unauthorised absesnses during their school lives!
However, its about £400 cheaper to go during term time!!

I am also going to phone the passport photo people at 9.30am, when they open, so see how much they charge for the photos to be done.
Then i am also going to call a plumber to see if i can get a quote for how much it will be to install a shower.

Right, need to crack on with revision now! Hope you all have a great day!

Good news- i called the photographers. They said that its £10 each to do passport photos, but they do 3 for 2, so its ony going to cost £20 for all 3 of us. They also guarantee them, so if they are not accepted as suitable, you get to go again for free.

Need to find a plumber next!

    Morning all.

Feeling a bit miserable this morning. Just fed up of having an empty bank account. Silly really, as it wont be empty for long, as i get my SL in a few days, but i have run out of almost everything (marg, milk, eggs).

    Grrr :(

Never mind, only a few more days to go. Going to bury my head in exam revision and hope the time passes quickly.

    Hi guys.
Had a hectic day, not helped by my delightful 12 year old telling me that i 'need to get my act together'. Honestly, sometimes he speaks to me like rubbish and its really upsetting :(

Havent spent anything today, and been doing exam revision most of the day.
Had the plumber round to look at the bathroom to see about installing a shower, putting on a new bath panel, and tiling one of the walls.
He said he'll call me by the weekend to let me know how much it will cost, and will be able to do the work within the next few weeks! Cant wait to have a shower again, baths are far too expensive, so hopefully i'll save a bit of water too!

If its not pouring down with rain on Saturday, i'll be taking the kids to Cornwalls Crealy. Its an adventure park , and this weekend they are reducing the admission prices to £2 pp instead of £10-£15pp!
We'll take a picnic, so hopefully it'll be a cheap day out!

Tonights dinner is not very exciting, but the kids love it. Its tinned ravioli on toast. I found 2 tins in the back of the cupboard and i want to use them up.

I hope you are all well and are doing well.x.

Hi Cleggie -have you ever heard of kgbdeals. If not, look them up as they have loads of deals on there for holidays. At the moment there is a 5* AI to Corfu between the dates 1 - 21 May for £299 pp and that includes flights from either Gatwick or Stanstead - wish OH could get time off work as that is a steal. They also have dates in June and September but are slightly more expensive. They also do loads of deals for holidays/breaks in other countries as well as in this country too. Am waiting to see what is available in the summer as this year the school holidays is the only time we can go.

I have taken the kids out of school for a holiday before now as OH has set holidays and sometimes that is the only time we can have a family holiday! In Wales though we are allowed 10 authorised days off a year and NO fines at all, so a bit different from England.
