I have just handed in my dissertation!! I am exhausted as only had 2 hours sleep last night!
So, am going to celebrate with a few glasses of wine in the garden!!0 -
...and well deserved! The weather is lovely and the wine will taste wonderful! Then you can put your feet up and know that the dissertation has hit the dust!

Good morning everyone!
Wow, the days are flying by so quickly, i cant seem to keep up.
Thanks SL and Piq for the well dones, i dont think i have ever worked so hard in my life. I am so glad its over though! All i have to do are 8 exams and its all done, i have then finished my degree!
Its 25 days until payday (not that i'm counting or anything!) and the money situation is becoming very very tight now.
I have a DD for my water coming out of the bank on Tuesday, and no money to pay for it as my bank is empty
I have spent the £20 i had for food this week, as i went to L!dl yesterday, so will have to make do with whatever is in the house food wise this week. Typical its the eater holidays!
However, i do have £40 in my savings account that i am going to transfer across, so that will cover the water DD.
EDIT- i have just checked my OLB and the DD has already come out today with the date as the 2nd April!!) I cant get the £40 into the bank until Monday, which is ACTUALLY the 2nd April...does this mean i have time on Monday to put the money into the bank??).
On a more positive note- i put the new tax disk on the car this morning, and it felt good to know that paying for it wasnt a struggle like it normally would be. Saving my CB every month for car stuff and Xmas is working out well!
I made some flapjacks yesterday, and they are really yummy! They are cranberry, apricot and mixed fruit ones.
I didnt have to worry about making dinner ast night as we went over to my sisters house and she treated us to a take away. Its was lovely!
We are going back on Sunday as well, and she is cooking us a roast dinner. So thats 2 meals i dont have to worry about this week!
My older son is off to Wembey with my sister and brother in law, to watch a rugby match, so i dont have to feed home this weekend either!
So, i think a very tight week will be possible, AND it means i will have managed to keep within my £250 GC!!! Will pop over to declare it in a minute.
Happy days!0 -
Cleggie ... thanks for your kind words.....
Anyway, to you - well done on finishing the dissertation:j and that must be a load off your mind.....
Re the bank - out of interest, who do you bank with?
Reason for asking is that my bank also seem to show D/debits as taken before their date if they're due on the Monday and it scares the *£$! out of me sometimes, especially if I'm not paid until the Friday and can't transfer money before that.
Need to be strict with my groceries too this month as 1st month of the "proper" split over the quarter. Fingers crossed it works!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

One benefit of them doing that, is that when i am due to get my CB on the monday, it is always available on the Sat
However, these days i dont touch my CB, it goes straight into my ISA.
I opened a new account last week, its an e-savings one. My plan now is to Split my CB every month.
I get £134 (approx, plus a few p extra) so i am going to put the £100 into my ISA (for xmas, car stuff, birthdays etc) and then the remaining £34ish will go into the e-savings account and that will be my emergency fund account. At the end of every week, whatever money is left from my food shop will also go into the e-s account.0 -
Am going to work on an SOA tomorrow to put up so that i can see where i can make any cut backs.
This evenings dinner is:
Smoked haddock- Cheap from L!dl
Broccoli- From the depths of the freezer
Garlic bread- From the depths of the freezer too.
Lunch was made with bread rolls from the freezer as well, so no wonder i am eventually seeing the bottom of my freezer!
The next thing i need to start using up is the fish i have stored in there. I think there is cod, salmon, haddock. I will make a fish pie during the week i think, that'll use some of it up!0 -
Hi cleggie,
Well done on getting your dissertation finished and in. Also congrats on coming under budget this month on the GC, truly fantastic. I'm so pleased for you.
I'm off on hols for a week in the early hours so just wrapping things up on the computer now. I just wanted to say you're a star and I hope you can stick with the lessons learned.
See you in a week or so,
