My son has this blackberry phone on a tesco mobile 24 month contract, has had it for just over a month and everything has been working perfectly fine up until today.
We can no longer get internet on it. Sorry am not clued up at all with these phones and cannot get it to pick up the internet at all, I thought Blackberry had its own internet so if you were not in a wifi area you could use that!!!
We try to get on the internet and it states "unable to connect to the internet, please try later". Also if we try to call the house line we get "number unobtainable" and a engaged tone, but it will ring mobile numbers ok. I tried ringing the house line off my mobile and the line rings fine?????????????????
Please help, as I have no idea what to do.

As far as I know:
The 8520 uses Edge when outwith wireless internet zones.
Anything here?

Either that or go back instore or email support and explain in case it is a warranty issue. My daughter has had one for a year and it's always been fine in Glasgow (if region has anything to do with it).

Menu - Manage Connections - make sure Mobile Network is ticked.0

Mine did this. I have the Curve 9300 and I found by switching off 2G it now shows perm 3G and generally works fine although i do get this message occasionally.
Options - networks-mobile networks-network mode - select 3g and then save. Should work. This is Orange though..*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Hi son came home from school tonight, and internet not working again, we got it working sunday night. Still not got bbm though, any ideas on how to solve this????????????0

if gprs or edge is in lower case then there is an issue with the WAP/blackberry data plan that sits on the account (which only your provider can solve), this would explain why you cannot get to the internet.
You'd normally expect it to read grps or edge then GRPS or EDGE (or 3g then 3G) as the phone registers itself with the cell tower and then acknowledges it has a valid data plan.
Sometime, pulling the battery (i.e. remove it wait a minute and then reinsert it) will resolve this issue, I've seen this a few times with our corporate blackberries.
BBM uses blackberry data plan via RIM's own APN (blackberry.net) so won't resolve even if you have a valid WAP setting.
Are you sure there is a valid blackberry data plan on the SIM account? (ask your provider).
If not then you can either
1) Get it added, it costs a bit although you might already be paying this in which case ask that its instated properly!
2) Use WAP, this means you'll lose out on BBM and BIS/BES (pushed email) but internet would work. This will eat into any internet data plan you have though.0 -
yes gprs is in lower case, OH taking it back into Tesco Mobile store where purchased, only had it just over a month, so hopefully they can fix it. Yes we have blackberry data plan on SIM account, worked from day 1, just from friday stopped working.0
