**looks nervous** Hello, my name is barbed and I am an ironer.:rotfl::rotfl:
Sorry guys, I am trying to cut back, honest! But I look ay those eBay photos of crumpled clothes and think, ooh you could get loads more if you just got the iron out!
Coco, I listed my first few things on eBay a few weeks ago and now I'm addicted! It's so easy! Spent yesterday sorting out [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE], stuff for carbooting. Found the leggings I have searched high and low for along the way. They've been MIA for over a year!!
Have you looked at the grocery challenge yet? It's a great thread and there are loads of recipes on page 1, tried lots and they've all been good.
Have a fab night out on Friday :beer:0 -
Awesome post DrunklMunkee, filled with some really great advice. I know the White Stripes song you mention, very quirky but so very true.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

Blimey - what a day !!! Am wiped , mental busy at work & after 2 short weeks this is going to be a long one
Barbeduk , hope you had a better day today ?
Now , just for the sake of getting myself an idea , I am going to put all my debts into the snow ball thing at lunchtime tomorrow .... Just to see what it says .... Watch this space !
Didnt spend anything today - 2 birthdays at work so lots of food :T
Rushed back for football so didn't detour into shop. Anything we haven't got we can do without ! It doesn't matter how organised I am there is always something running out !
Phone rang twice tonight - braced myself , picked up the phone , deep breath and "hello" ..... Both of them automated PPI messages lol :rotfl:
Time for a cup of tea & dishes before I ignore them all together !

Hi Coco, (& everyone else that has thanked me!!)
Wow - thanks guys! I am quite moved that you found my advice so useful:o. I really wanted to help Coco, because I really think she deserves all the help we can give her. So many of you guys are helping her, (and without knowing it - helping me too) that I wanted to offer my encouragement.
I am not gonna go on for as long this time - just wanted to say 'Good On You' Coco - great to hear you are completing the PPI claim. I made one last year and I got about £5k back. IT...FELT.....WONDERFUL. I am not going to bore you about it here (more on that later...). But I will say - it is a slow process. If you can get the PPI claim sent, then they should send you a letter to acknowledge receipt of your letter - and tell you a time that they will respond by. Make a note of this date, because (and here is the great bit:D) if they don't come back to you by the specified date. YOU CAN CHASE THEM and threaten them with ombudsmen etc!!! haha (time to get our own back, kids!!)
Glad to hear you are going to have a try at the snowballing website. This is the method that I have used the most. It can be a slow process depending on the size of your outstanding balances, but another great feeling when you pay off one debt, and have the spare cash to 'up' the payments on the next. (don't forget - you can keep a little back to 'up' your reward kitty . It is important to reward yourself when you complete each hurdle).
Woo-Hoo, I have just worked out how you guys do all your emoticons!! - only took me 3 posts
Right, I don't want to hog your posts, Coco. This is your journey - I am just here for advice, hugz & plenty of back-slapping. So due to your great inspiration - I thought I will try and create my own DFW Diary. That way I can ramble as much as I like and not steal your thunder.
I won't be as good as you though Coco:T. Keep fighting the good fight, coz you are NOT doing it alone.

That's brilliant Coco - well done to you.
This exactly what I found - most of letters/phone calls that I ignored weren't half as bad as I imagined they would be! (some of them are though - so good bracing technique)
But those automated PPI calls are pretty annoying though:mad:
haha - must stop adding emoticons

Ah bless you - your posts are brilliant
you should do your DFW diary , I for one will be there to read it !
You might regret offering your help - I have never ending questions hence I ramble on forever. And this is typical me - shattered, come to bed & then my brain starts going @ 100 miles an hour .... I have just started reading a very moving diary " life after bankruptcy " .... a truly inspiring person !
Off to tell eldest to turn TV down before I rap it round his head :rotfl:
Coco xThe final chapter - £4893 to go out of £30K0 -
does your eldest have a job? i worked part time from the age of 16 and held down a full time college course my mother made it clear to me and my sisters from the age of 16 (im 25 now and have never had any sort of debt) you will get a job and pay your way this could help you a lot if he gave you maybe £15 a week rent and he then has his own money for things and doesnt rely on you for money.
it will help him to understand money in the future so he doesnt get into a similar situatution to you.0 -
Morning All
Eldest doesnt have a job at the moment - though hopefully that will change soon !
He only has 3 weeks level before A Levels finish now, so I told him to concentrate on that for now, have a couple of weeks down time .... then Jump to it - the free ride is over :rotfl:
Bless him - he has already told me that we he will be paying his way. Though, to be honest chipping in for his food will be a start. Though lets be honest, I already know what will happen - eldest gets a job and chips in £15.00 a week for argument sakes - Ex will deduct this amount from the money he gives me ...... I can almost guarantee it !
Anyway - another mental day today at work...... but at least the week is flying by already. No spends today and dinner is taken care of tonight so its all good.
Right, going to try this snowball thing and see what happens..... I am guessing at 2025....... but lets see.
Have a good day all.
Love Coco xThe final chapter - £4893 to go out of £30K0 -
best of luck with the snowball -it is good to see when it's possible to get things paid off and you can try different budgets and see. I've just done one and hopefully will have all my wages for me (and not the dreaded credit cards or overdraft) by this time next year!
Looking forward to hearing how you get on0
