I really cannot understand the logic of some buyers, £10 + £3 pp is the same as £13 + free pp. Same product, same total price, whats the problem?
What's the problem? Well that would depend on how much the postage and packaging actually cost compared to the £3 P&P charge. If it was a 48p stamp then £3 is excessive. Everyone who sells on eBay should follow the rules.
I have seen many sellers who list an item at 1p and have an excessive postage charge 70x more than what the postage would actually cost.
Just an example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dermatix-scar-acne-burns-keloid-reduction-gel-120g-8-x-15g-tube-BRAND-NEW-/300663725865?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Skincare_PP&hash=item4600f45f29
Would you still be happy that this seller is avoiding eBay fee's?A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
When I received it I questioned him again based on the actual costs now I could see them, and he told me that he has to pay for jiffy bags and petrol to drive to the post office.
Here is the reply you would have got from me:
Postage: £1
Jiffy Envelope: £0.50p
Time taken to process order, take to post office, 30 minutes @ £30/hr: £15.
Mileage to post office 2 miles return @ HMRC rate of 45ppm: £0.90
Actual cost to post your item is £17.40. If you would like to pay the true cost of the postage I am happy to send you an invoice for an additional £14.400 -

I post laptops. I charge £9.99. The cost of the courier is £7.04p. Is my P&P excessive?0 -
Yes it may only be £1 but incase you missed my post above.. you are only allowed to charge the actual postage and packaging cost, nothing more. Those are eBay rules not mine. If I charge fair postage cost and pay the correct FVF then I can't see why other seller's can't also offer reasonable P&P charges.
No I'm not. I am allowed to charge the actual cost. The actual cost includes all costings including materials and labour.0 -

And I would love to see the feedback you got to go with that response.Notmyrealname wrote: »I post laptops. I charge £9.99. The cost of the courier is £7.04p. Is my P&P excessive?
£2.96 can be considered excessive but it also depends on the packaging if any was used. Some buyers might be happy, some not so happy. You can't please everyone but I do hope your DSR's are in good standing.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

Techincally you could charge what you wanted, but sellers that do that rarely last long on ebay.
I've seen off many a competitir since the stars have come in, they used to get by with their inflated p and p but got hammered quite quickly when buyers were asked for their opinion on the costs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry, this statement is incorrect. You can still receive low stars for p & p even if you charge the actual postage cost and nothing for packaging.
The star is the buyers opinion and if they think they have been charged too much for postage they can leave whatever stars they like. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I never said buyers could not leave low stars for charging the actual P&P. Buyers have the right to rate whatever they want so can trash your stars even if you offer 1p P&P - that is what I don't like about the DSR's.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0

I am referring to the fact that Ebay say that you are allowed to charge the actual postage and packing cost.
One one hand they say it is allowed, then when you receive low stars they don't want to know. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
