HTC Sensation & Sensation XE and Samsung Galaxy S2

While I appreciate the choice from the above phones is a very personal thing, I was in two phone shops today asking a few Q's without a definative answer. Can anyone help? Looking to take new contract out on o2 or Tesco mobile (moving from 3 as fed up of little or no signal whenever we travel around UK)

1. Apart from obvious inclusion of headphones and hence better music sound (which I don't need), is their any advantage to buying the XE over the Sensation?

2. Do either of the above save the apps only to the internal memory?

Have a HTC Hero and throughout contract issue has been that apps only save to internal memory so I am forever getting 'low on storage' msg which means I have to delete an app to add another. Have only a few songs on it.

3. Being HTC phone owner, feel inclined to stick with HTC as I like the Sense set up but had quick play on Samsung today and it seems OK. Anyone experience of both and genuine reasons for their preferred one.

TIA

Sara

The XE has the same processor but isn't underclocked and has 'beats' software
and I believe more internal memory, thats all the differences are.

The standard sensation if you root and flash some custom software can get these.

So really its a choice between if the headphones and the accents of red are worth
the extra for you, if not, get the sensation, which is cheaper per month and visit
xda forums and learn how to put the XE software on to it, its very easy.

I got my sensation for £21pm, where as the XE on the same plan was £28pm

The standard sensation has 1gb of internal memory, which is more than enough for
all but the most die hard app lover, to put this in real terms, I have 174 apps and still
have 400mb or internal free, although that's with some largish games put on the sd card.

You can move parts of apps to the sd card if you come in to issues with low memory.

So both the sensation and the XE are really the same phone, just with a couple of
software differences between them, and the obvious styling differences.

I come from the HTC Desire, and went with the sensation because of the whole HTC
package, they really do have great build quality, I played with the Galaxy SII in a shop,
and to me it felt really like plastic and of an inferior quality to the aluminum of the sensation,
the Sense UI is imo great, but that's just personal opinion.

I've just been through the S2/XE dilemma. After weighing things up I eventually plumped for the XE
TBH I think it is down to personal preferences between these 2.

  • I have the Sensation - as others have said internally it is identical to the XE, provided you are okay with rooting and flashing ROM's (don't be put off - it's really easy if you follow a tutorial). I chose it over the S2 as it seemed a bit sluggish when trying it out and I much prefer HTC Sense. Not to mention it tends to be slightly cheaper as well.

From what I understand on reading this question posed by so many others (its a popular one!) its a matter of personal preference in terms of what you like/style etc and what you value.

I'd go for the XE (if I had the money, credit rating and a signal where I live!) but thats because I have played around with both the XE and the S2 and I prefered the feel of the S2. Its apparently a fraction slower but I'd opt for it over the S2 as I find it less flckery and easier on the eye to use.
