Your offence is being dealt with by the court (no chance of a course if you were driving at that speed), and it seems too fast for a ticket (usually 76 is the limit in a 50 zone to get a ticket)
See a lawyer if you are not guilty!0 -
Hy all and sorry for posting here but i don't know where. So the ideea is that in september 2011 i was caught on motorway in sussex with 77 in 50 zone (working zone) so they sent me the first letter asking if i was the driver, i sent back with yes, and 2 days ago they sent me another letter with court ref. and date of hearing, Without any fine or maybe a course or something... what will be the next step? do i have to go to court? lawyer? the ideea is that i have european driving lincences not uk one. thank for any help.
Seventy-seven in a fifty is far worse than just speeding. So expect a few more points than the usual three. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Not "far worse" at all. Speeding is speeding!
As posted 76 would have got him a ticket!
Oh dear...
Here we go again!
The faster you go the higher the risks. Driving that fast in a zone that is has a lower speed limit, is far worse than doing the same speed on road that is designed for higher speeds.
Are you one of those who thinks that the speed limit doesn't apply to? That it should be left up to the discretion of the driver, if your car has better brakes, suspension, tyres and steering than any other; if the road is empty; if the road is dry; if the road should really have a much higher speed limit than the one posted?
I am pretty sure that the district judge will have a very different opinion. I am pretty sure he will have the view that driving that much faster than the posted limit, is a bit worse than just a bit of speeding. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Where's all this come from.
He is being prosecuted for speeding!
You wrongly saidFlyboy152 wrote:Seventy-seven in a fifty is far worse than just speeding
And I corrected you, no more than that!
He has had hard luck as 1mph slower and he'd have just got a ticket!
Now he's looking at 6 points (might get a disqualification, but sadly for you no flogging/hanging)0 -
I have attended one of these courses and I found it enjoyable and informative, I am saddened at the arrogance and stupidity I hear coming from some of you.

thanks all for replys, i'm not saying this as a excuse, but it was 1,30 in the night after 14 hours of work and i realy didn't realise that i was in working zone and i'm notva speed fan i drive a pug so...it was an average camera. anyway the ideea that i tinkh is that they call me to court because i have european licenses and they can' not take points...how much a pointh is worth in pounds i mean for 6 as you were speaking here how much the penalty will be and do i need a lawyer or can i go my self. thanks0

You can get points put on a EU licence.
Apply for a counterpart (D9): http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_10030243.pdf
If you want to plead not guilty, or want any mitigation taking into account you could use a solicitor, but you don't have to use one.0 -

Nope, you hauled to court because you were driving too fast. If yu had been driving one mile an hour less, you might have got away with a fixed penalty. But, as you weren't, the district judge can give a lot more points and a much higher fine. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
