Beware - People's Postcode Lottery!

Wow - you must hate a lot of people - you do the lottery to try & win money - I wouldn't call them stupid just you think its a bad thing.
Anything capitalising on the word 'people' in its possessive sense is as loathsome as any Communist state out there with its 'People's Republic of this that and the other' and the repellent Tony Blair, with his People's Princess.I don't hate anyone; my comment was based purely on the stats of those pulled in by this Dutch company's 'cause marketing' and the way it appears to be run (the earlier post on here about a ticket holder's difficulty in obtaining his/her prize money being anything but the sole complaint of its type.)The percentage amount of money this foreign business gives away compared to the overall amount it rakes in is less than impressive. No wonder that by way of seducing others to chuck money at its lottery, it perpetuates the daft myth that it is, in some way or other, a "people's" thing, when it's anything but.Buying lottery tickets is fun, and if you win, all the better. By way of a little show of gratitude, we buy tickets to a lottery run by our area's hospice, a place that doesn't claim it's a "people's" anything and which doesn't take a rake-off for 'operational costs' as in the case of the highly profitable Dutch Novomedia BV.

Avoid this outfit - I signed up for the August draw, they took my entry fee and my postcode won £10. When I asked why I hadn't been paid they said "oh your entry started 2nd week of August" - really??? Since when did the July TV tell us that? Such a con - I signed up well in time for the draw and they failed to pay out - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.0

my only concern regarding the Post Code Lottery is this, say you live in the North of England, ie, Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, with a population of say for argument’s sake, 500,000, if you livea bit further down the map, say, Bridlington, Scarborough, Filey these towns have a smaller population, does that mean that because in the North as suggested above there, more people are paying by DD for there weekly tickets, Surely that means that They have more chance of winning on a regular basis than those lower down the map as suggested above? Please answer honestly because if this is true then thousands of people paying by DD of £12 per month are Never going to win!?

I live in Scotland. My specific postcode covers 90 houses, so I presume I have a lower chance of a big prize. However if I’m the only person in my postcode area that contributes then I have a bigger chance as I won’t have to share my win. Except I know that’s not true as I definitely have one neighbour who plays..
So, in other words, North or South is not relevant. The actual number of individuals that have subscribed to the Postcode Lottery is more important and even then it is down to the luck of the draw!1 -
@mikeman59 and @cannugec5 You're both replying to a thread that was started in 2012 and last activated over 3 years ago - you're unlikely to get responses from the OP etc.2

If you live in a pcode where you are the unique player, and you win, PPL will widen the winning area to include as many neighbouring pcodes as necessary to meet the criteria set out in their rules.0
