  • Don't mind a bumpy ride at all, i am known for being a screamer so ear plugs may well be needed :rotfl:.

Fingers crossed that the cheque arrives today!

Do you do ebay/ surveys etc to try and raise a bit more cash?
  • Thanks Penny, that made me laugh..... As I scream too :-)

To be honest, regarding the cheque, I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a foolish mistake I've made?

You see...... Last April, we took out a share save plan with Mr W's works. £250 per month paid into it. We were assigned a bucket load of shares when it matured in 2014, but things were getting pretty tight around Christmas time and as they weren't doing too well, we decided to cash them in to help us out. At the time it was a God Send...... But the share price has now jumped up considerably and makes me wonder if we have done the right thing in the long run?

I guess it's money we never had and it did come in handy. The problem is that they pay you the money back in dribs and drabs. They still owe us about £800 but I'm not too worried as it's extra income at the moment to us. Mr W does have to pull his finger out though and contact payroll to stop making deductions now that the share account is closed. On the agenda for tomorrow..... Me thinks!

Meanwhile, we are receiving £250 cheques every month. It's compensating for what's going out.

Anyway, I'm off to make a meal plan to tide us over till 2nd of March...... Let's see what magical concoctions I can come up with.

I'm starting to enjoy my morning now, had word that the kids arrived safely, so that has settled me a bit. I need quiet time to get my head around things, before I go back to work next week and life becomes hectic again.

I'm lucky that with working in a school as a part-time TA I have the opportunity to be with my kids during the school hols and it also allows me the time to take stock and re-assess Xxx

    Come on Mr Postman..........

  • Glad the kiddies arrived safely.

I'm also a TA, OMG are you sure your not me:rotfl:
  • As in a doppleganger? Lol. I'm sure you and I could trade some fascinating war stories re: school :-)

It's funny how we both do the same job ...... Serendipity:-)

  • Whoo Hoo ...... The cheque has arrived, for a bit more than I expected £320. I have to admit we kinda need it right now :-). In a while I will walk the dog to the bank and deposit the cheque.

I've mooched around the old-style board for meal ideas and checked what I already had in the house, here is what I've come up with ...... In no particular order:

    1) Corned Beef Hash.
    2). Sausage and cheese bake.
3). Battered Cod and chips and bread and butter.
    4). Chorizio Omelette.
    5). Chorizio Pasta Bake.
    6). Pizza and Chips.
    7). Chicken curry with rice/onion Bhaji/Nann bread
8). Home made chilli con Carne with rice and tortillas.
9). Whole chicken dinner with vegetables/mashed potato and Yorkshire Puddings.
    10) Cajun chicken wraps with roasted onion and peppers. Maybe some side chips.
    11).Bacon topped baked potatoes.
12).Toad in the hole with mashed potato and gravy.
    13) Tomato Soup with cheese and onion toasties.
    14).Sausage, Egg and chips.
    16) Sardines and spaghetti and garlic bread.
    17) Tuna pasta bake.

If I dare say over the next couple of days I'm going food shopping....... Please, please, please give me a big slap :-)

I love baking and cooking from scratch, so I have plenty of ingredients in the house to make some goodies.

With me receiving the cheque I can increase my cash to £338 to last until the 2nd March. I have factored in what is due in and out of the account until that point and this is what I should have left over :-)

I'm wondering whether Mr Wonderful and I should treat ourselves to the cinema tonight? I can't remember the last time we went........ It seems such a waste to have the kids away for a couple of days and not enjoy the freedom a little. Heaven knows when the next time might be?

Anyway, off I pop to the bank, no doubt scraping my knees on the floor when our Hol (Golden Lab) decides to do a runner after some leaves blowing in the wind :-)

  • Loads of meals there, i'm terrible for popping into the supermarket for a loaf of bread and spending £40, have found i spend alot less since i started shopping at lidl, manage to get almost everything we need and lots of brand names, just spend less.

Glad the cheque arrived and its for more than you expected.

Do you have a vue cinema near you, you could use nectar points if you have any a save a few quid.
  • Hi, I'm back from the bank ..... I even passed a couple of shops on my way, and just walked on by....

I'm getting the hang of this now :-)

Penny, we don't have a Vue Cinema near us, unfortunately. Thanks for the tip Xx. Also I don't eBay or do surveys, the thought scares the heck outta me. Not sure why, probably because so many things in my mind could go wrong.

I have been testing Mr W at work today and we have decided on staying in and having a cosy night at home playing scrabble, drinking the left-over rum from Christmas and watching a film on Sky. There is a few we haven't seen yet ...... And it's gotta be cheaper than the cinema :-)

    Have a good evening!

Surveys are a good way of getting cash or vouchers - not a lot can go wrong there. It's just time consuming and boring sometimes.

Ebay's good as long as you take steps to protect yourself. There's nowhere else really you can get such a wide audience for your stuff. There are Facebook selling groups popping up all over the place as well so that might be an option.

  • jwil right not much to go wrong with surveys, can be a bit tedious at times, but i made quite a bit last year from them a good one to start with is valued opinions.

ebay is very easy and vast majority of time i have no problems, occasional non payment, but i just relist, does get addictive though.
