Taking Wedding Dress Abroad

If you have booked a wedding package you can bet your life the co-ordinator or Customer Service dept that deal with weddings answer this question several times a day, for peace of mind give them a call or better still drop them an email so you get a reply in writing and then you can stop worrying about it. Hope it all goes smoothly and best wishes for a great wedding and a long and happy marriage.0

You need to check with your airline and preferably get it in writing but please bear in mind that it may change between now and September. It will depend a bit what airport you fly from and if there are any more security scares between now and then. If there is another security scare that prevents you from taking the dress on board then please try to keep everything in perspective. If you do have to check it in then don't forget that airlines are moving more to charging for more than one bag checked in so if you do have to check it in you may have to pay for it. Obviously ideally you'd take it on board with you and it's more than likely that it'll be fine and airlines are very helpful - just make sure it'll fit into whatever size bag is allowed (surprisingly big at the moment) and if necessary don't take anything else on board (or get your husband to carry it
).
Even if your dress has to packed up small and looks creased when you get it out don't panic - how do you think they're cared for before you buy it... All dresses will look a lot better for a steam or a professional press and most hotels will have a service for doing it. And if it all goes horribly wrong you're getting married to the man you love in a beautiful place so if you have to wear a bikini it'll still be amazing. I'm sure you'll have a fab time and you'll look lovely

We purchased a wedding package and I have no idea how this all works!! You must tell me all when you return.
We've booked through First Choice too, and we are staying at the Louis Pheathon Hotel Club. It's a civil ceremony at 1 of 3 places, I'm hoping it will be at Paphos town hall but we'll see.
I'm phoning the airline (First Choice Airways) tomorrow for some information about the dress on the flight, I will let you know the outcome.

Just a word of warning, I did see someone told in no uncertain terms that they couldn't hang up their wedding dress and told to put it in the overhead locker. She pleaded but to no avail. Can't remember which airline, think it was probably BMI. But well worth getting assurances ahead I'd say.0
