Transfer of contact list
I have a Nokia 6700 phone and have just got a Nokia Lumia 800.
This type of phone is totally alien to me and I am not the most techny person.
I would like to know is there a way that I can transfer my contacts list from my old phone to the new one. I really don't want to have to type them all out again.
Thanks.

You should take this as an opportunity to get away from keeping your contacts on your phone and having to do this everytime you swop.
1) set up a hotmail or a google account - you might already have one.
2) Enter your contacts into the hotmail or google account.
3) On your lumia - press the arrow key that appears on the top righthand side of the screen, then scroll down to settings. Then select email + accounts.
4) Add your gmail or hotmail account - it will then pull the contacts from it to your phone - any time you change a contact on hotmail/gmail it will change it on your phone, anytime, you add a contact on your phone it will back it up to gmail/hotmail.
Then going forward when you swop phones again, all you ever need to do is link your email account to the phone.
Otherwise, I think you can use bluetooth to manually transfer all your contacts but I've never done it so am not sure how - someone else here will know.0 -
Hi,
if you are using the same sim then just make sure all contacts are on it.0 -

Thanks for this - I suppose it is a good idea to have them all in one place as a back up should I need to transfer them again.[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,

Unfortunately I can't just swop the sim cards over as the phone uses a much smaller card.0 -

Can't - the Lumia takes a microsim.0 -

Does the new handset not have the feature to imprort the contacts? I'm surprised as both are Nokia, just this morning, a colleague has just gotten a HTC Wildfire from a Nokia N97 and the Wildfire guided him through and it imported all his 200 odd contacts via bluetooth. My satio to android was done via cable, but all methods easy .0 -

I suppose I am scared that as I only used my 6700 really as a phone and to send and receive texts and the new one is all singing and dancing etc that I will lose the contacts from my old phone and they won't have transferred to the new phone.
I imagine that I will just have to set them up on my hotmail account and then try and import them between the phones and if it doesn't work I will have them on hotmail.0 -
Managed to do it via Bluetooth :j0

The Orange shop transferred about 1600 contacts last week for me, set up 6 emails and Facebook/Twitter/Skype, when I went back to iPhone from Blackberry, all in about 15 minutes.
See if your network can do the same for you!💙💛 💔0 -
