I hate the moving adverts on websites (though have never noticed any on MSE). I suffer from vertigo and they can set off an attack if I'm not expecting a moving bit on a webpage. I use ad-blockers but sometimes they don't work.

Sorry to hear that moving adverts can set off an attack. Does that include flash photography as well?

If I may say so, I don't mind admitting that generaly speaking the age I am now I try and keep well away from Children. I did have 3 myself though (Well..the Missus did!) ;)

BUT, I also wish to say that I think that the words of your Signature are lovely..really lovely.:T

If you live by that premise you will never go far wrong.:D
You've heard the budget speech now you've been told. Make lots of cash then die before you're old 'Cause we're gonna Tax Gran that's what it is We're gonna Tax Gran freeze her allowances. The flashing intermittent pop up type adverts I agree one can mostly eradicate with adblock or whatever.

However, the newer type of moving advert which is part of the web site I cannot remove.

I find the moving advert rather a nuisance while I am trying to do a booking. How about you?

    I deleted it using adblock
    I'm not that way reclined

Mmm O.K....I have Adblock. Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

    I have been known to.;)

I will try again at the Arriva Trains Web Site

    Cheers.

    It took me three attempts.

I used 'block an ad on this page'.

I see what you're getting at now but they're not really an advert though are they? It's just site functionality. It is irritating admittedly but if you block Java scripts from running by using something like NoScript as I mentioned in my previous post then you won't be troubled by them.

You can block Java scripts on MSE as well but the problem is that any posts you make won't have paragraphs in them and instead you'll get one solid block of text which is a bit of a pain to read.

The worst ones have appeared in the last few days. like images that drop down the page like rain - I have visual problems and these are a nightmare for me
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

I 'lose' almost all adverts be various means.

The residual (because it's actually part of the site rather than an advert) thing that I find most annoying (although, thankfully rare) is where they arrange for side panels to try to 'keep pace' with scrolling. So when you scroll the panels scroll with the screen but as soon as you stop scrolling they slide back to their original position. I haven't got an example as if I encounter these I don't tend to use the site but they are incredibly annoying.

Yes, I know exactly the type of thing you mean. I find that VERY irritating. I think the people who make up the Web Site think it makes the site 'cool' and modern.

You say that sort of thing is rare. You can bet that it will not be in the future.

I agree with you...if I come across it, unless I absolutely MUST be there.....I click out of the ruddy site right away.

    Yes...as per my answer above.

You know I wondered about that as well. When I see a news item on tell they sometimes say..."I must warn you that there is some flash photography".

But then what company is going to care if advertising methods are going to adversly effect someone, either health wise of cheese off wise!

Actually....your  signature is doing my head in as well M8!:rotfl:
