As long as you haven't already cancelled the original policy????? (Your previous post says you have emailed a cancellation to them)

(Read up in your new policy what happens when you cancel diring the first 14 days)

If you want to cancel the new policy, then don't "assume", and make certain the old one is still ongoing, and they are not in the process of cancelling it before cancelling the new one!

As far as whether or not your new insure will charge for you cancelling, you need to read what it says in your policy (the dd guarantee only covers the way the dd is operated, and is nothing to do with the policy conditions), many companies do make admin charges whenever you cancel.

    'Guarantee' to beat renewal quote

If you're trying all comparisons and special deals, but still struggle to beat the price that landed on your doormat (or inbox) from you current insurer, one company promises to beat it (with caveats...) More Than will give anyone aged 30 or older, who has four years or more no-claims bonus a promise that it'll provide a lower quote than your present provider. Get a price online, then phone it up if it hasn't already won."

Tried this as non of the prices I've been getting beat my renewal.

    It is completely pointless.

They will give you a quote over the phone, you have to pay up front TODAY (i.e. same day / call they give you the hiked price on).

Online quotes are not part of the price promise so you have to get a new quote over the phone if the online quote is more than your renewal price.

The quote over the phone is likely to be allot higher than the low price you're trying to beat if it's anything like the online prices I was getting from them.

You then send off your renewal documentation to prove your low renewal price.

They then eventually refund the difference and £1 to beat the renewal price.

That is not worth £1 unless you have a problem with the CS of your current insurer?? They gain more than £1 by potentially holding £hundreds of yours for as long as they take to look at your documents.

I think I will just renew with my current insurer, much easier!
  • I obtained a quotation from More Than for car insurance and they were over £200 More Than my renewal so I called them to see if they could beat the premium.
They would beat it by £1, but I would have to pay their higher premium and then send details of my renewal to get a refund, which could take up to 60 days to process.

Just tried More Than to beat my renewal price on my car insurance, and they came no were near, in fact they were nearly 3 times more expensive than my renewal.
The renewal price I got from my insurance company was nearly £100 cheaper than thier price comparison price.??? and no deposit to find if I stay with them.
    Happy Days.:j
  • Can the article state whether each comparison site's results include insurance premium tax? That would allow easier comparison with the renewal quote

I took out car insurance 2 months ago and paid it in full with my debit card. I got a phone from them yesterday saying that I need to pay them an extra £75 now because my car is kept at two separate postcode areas - this is because I work at night and the underwriters now class one as a high risk postcode area. Are they allowed to do this?
