!!!!!!, I'm getting a bit mad at the Quote Me Happy website, it keeps going round in circles when it comes to getting to the page where I need to create an account.

Even trying to access it on my tablet is sending up the same "your browser does not allow session cookies" error.

Is that a way to avoid signing up via the internet and getting you to phone a call-centre to avoid having to pay out cashback claims?

Edit - It worked this time, but as they want a 1.5% service charge for paying by credit card, I shall wait until pay-day to pay via my debit card.

A very apt description of Aviva's business strategy...

Out of all the comparison sites, only Quote Me Happy has sent me any "you still got time to buy" emails.
  • I have been getting a few new insurance quotes, and some companies ask the question "do you have access to another vehicle ?".

I am not sure why they ask this question - is it a good thing or a bad thing to have access?

It's to capture whether you have use of other cars eg a work car or perhaps a partners car.

It can be used to reduce your premium or more often is used if you ever want to add a young driver as the more access you have to other vehicles, the more access the young driver will have of your car

Direct Line have reduced the validity of car insurance quotes from 90 days to one month.
Did a motor quote this morning for a policy due to renew on 22nd Dec, but when I saved it it came up with valid until 26th October. Previously it would have said till 26th December.

That's a real shame, I was trying to get a quote in before the big rises anticipated for women in December, as advised by this week's moneysaving email! I guess I could take it out and pay for it in October, but it wasn't that cheap anyway.

They probably reduced it for that very reason, to reduce the number of females getting quotes now before the rises come in.

I went with Admiral in the end, £320 for the year (plus £5 to come in Nectar points), nice saving of £150 compared to my previous insurer's renewal price :)
  • Having lived in France for 10 years, where Europe-wide car insurance cover is standard, i.e. driving outside your country of residence does not require a Green Card, and now regularly visiting friends & family in France while resident in the UK, I have tried to find similarly inclusive European cover in UK car insurance but cannot find how to identify that benefit from initial online info on insurers websites. Any suggestions really welcomed.

Might be useful for some if Santander customers and renewal quote is the cheapest price.

Santander will beat your renewal quote by 10% if a (general) customer or 20% if you hols 1-2-3 Current account or credit card.
