Thank you to everyone for the kind Birthday wishes
Unfortunately Mrs E has the lurgy and I spent the day playing nursemaid to her, looking after myself and being nackered. I woke up at half five on my birthday, and half two today. Currently I'm clumping around like a zombie, although cake is more appealing than brains :rotfl:
I got some great presents, including a lovely Classic FM compilation CD from Mrs E (including one of the tunes from our wedding day) and quite a few cheques, which have been dutifully paid into savings.
Someone bought me a copy of 'Your Money Or Your Life' and I'm finding it to be a very enjoyable read. I even managed a conversation with Mrs E about alternatives to working 'til we drop, a topic that normally sends her to sleep! We also discussed investing for children, and how to teach kids about money (rock!)
I think that recent gains from MB (c. £250 in 10 days) and my consistency with the Freedom Fund is starting to make an impression. It's easy to dismiss these ploys when they're a few quid, but when they get to ££££, something must be working
There has also been a little progress on the pension front. Our head of HR spoke to me in passing this morning and I got the distinct impression that my employer will be paying for all missing contributions. That will be something like a 20% boost to my current pension pot, although I will have to pay c. £600 myself to make up my shortfall.
Right - off to rush through some admin work so that I can make a cheeky start on a job application

Belated happy birthday and may you get your ideal job as the perfect gift

Tho heaven only knows what an ideal job would look like :rotfl:Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Happy Birthday Edinburgher - and I hope Mrs E is feeling better.
Just finished YMOYL - I really enjoyed it, though I felt that I should have read it many years ago. Also as I don't officially work a fair bit of the book didn't actually apply. I'm looking for my next inspirational read now which will have to be a blog as I'm on a no book buy this month. Am going to look at Mr Money Mustache.

Hi Mr E, fingers crossed re pension - it'll be great to have it sorted even if you have to add the £600.
Also good luck on the job application. You have many of us thinking of you on that front.
