Cheers Cal - Mrs E brought me some wine and I swear it has medicinal cold curing properties :)

Lots of (Greek) cookery and fun stuff this weekend and will go back into the fray refreshed on Monday.

Yum yum. Wine AND Greek food!

So I have now managed to scratch our car twice in a month

    1) Builder's trailer after I had to stop suddenly and 2) Tree branch scratched me after I drove away (from parked) in a car park

It looks like someone has keyed our car and I feel like a total muppet :( Today was particularly annoying, as I was driving like an old woman at the time and was being particularly conscientious. Not worth having repaired (can they even repair shallow scratches?) but it will annoy me every time I see the car for the next few years.

Mrs E is being absolutely fantastic about it and I am very proud of her.

Our cupboards are now groaning after trips to L1dl and Mr M. Not too many bargains, but our cupboard essentials are stocked up again and I got a gigantic leg of lamb reduced to c. £4.50/kilo :j

Also picked up silicone for our window frames and will look at using it this afternoon.

    I hope everyone is having a lovely [STRIKE]Sunday[/STRIKE] apparently it's Saturday! :)
  • There is a franchise called Chips Away that do minor scratches and stone chips, meant to be pretty reasonable. If it is a light scratch you can polish it out yourself with colour matched T-Cut auto polish and follow with Turtle Wax. Don't bother with touch in pens and the like, the rarely work and often make it look worse than it did before.
  • Hi Mr E, frustrating abut the car but these things happen occasionally.

Well done on the lamb bargain :)

I've got oxtail in the SC at the moment - smells pretty good.

    Hope the siliconing goes well

T cut thing or similar works wonders.
I had my new car two weeks when next doors bin fell over onto the bonnet on bin day in the wind :(
I was very annoyed but when picking up my girls, dad came out with the products and had a quick go! Theres only one mark that you can still see.
It easily gets out the small marks. He didn't get my 'wax on, wax off' joke though!!
I agree with southern dave - the pens are rubbish. Dh tried to cover up my scratches on the last car and it probably looked worse!

Thanks guys - I just feel rightly silly for having an argument with a tree branch :D

I am thinking about using this to try and mask it - any thoughts?

Dave - did you mean a T-Cut like this (dark green car)? Also, is there a specific turtle wax product that has worked for you previously? There are so many choices it's mind boggling!

The silicone seems to have worked a treat. The vinegary smell is dying down and Mrs E made delicious HM pizzas and blackcurrant muffins for us :)

Off to the cinema for some sci-fi nonsense tomorrow, just the ticket for soggy Scotland in October!

We visited Mrs E's parents and while I won't be able to re-purpose any of my (wine) home brewing kit, we did find 5 bottles of HM strawberry wine from the period when we stayed there before buying our flat. Hopefully it's still drinkable, I am about to find out!

Thats what we have - no colour in particular, but it works if the scratches are shallow. I think you can buy it in most places.
Hope you manage to improve it. Its so annoying, but these things happen and it could've been worse.
    Hope you enjoy the cinema.
