I was talking to my Kid's Dad about this thread. He reminded me of our motto at the time..."Divide and Conquer"
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

When my DD was 6 months we moved 250 miles away from our family due to OHs job, I then found out I was 2 months pregnant! so there is
The advice that I wish someone had told me is that you will cope, you find a way to do things your own way.
It amazes me the amount of people who ask how I cope! My nan has 9 kids and at one point had them all living at home! And she had 3 kids under 2 at one point (twins) and she worked! If she can do it I can!:D

Encourage Winky 1 to be as independant as possible by the time Winky 2 arrives - I had a bigger gap so DS1 was clean, dry and able to put his shoes and socks on, thank God for velcro - but every little helps.
Start introducing the idea of Winky 2 gradually ie pictures of babies etc this builds up to a basic understanding of what to expects but ...
Try & avoid the "you'll have a little brother /sister to play with" claims (usually from older relatives). Winky 1 will expect a fully functioning playmate, not a boring, crying poop-machine. I went down the 'well, babies are quite dull so I'm glad I've got a big boy to help me' route & it worked so well we did it again when DS2 was on the way.

    I had 2 under 2years ( Now they are 2 and 3).

My advice is it is really hard the first year and My husband and I made a pact that we needed to try and support each other. We went by the motto - lets make we don't kill each other or the kids ;-).

Go to local toddler groups they are perfect with 2 young children as you can let the older one play in a safe environment and still keep an eye on the baby.

Try not to feel guilty about what you can't do - like spending time with one of them, having to leave the baby crying, stuff like that and just remember how well you have done managing two children.

It is worth it, my 2 love each other - hear them playing schools and its so cute. Whats even better is that we are all done and dusted now. Yahoo - no more babies in this house.

Oh and a double buggy is a must in my opinion. I went for a side by side and its been great. keeps the kids safe and restrained when I need them to be.

How fast they would grow! I had two under 1! There was just under a year between my two daughters being born, and it was very happy chaos bringing them up. They are now nearly 15 and 16 and so grown up :(. Although I am very proud of how they have turned out I sometimes yearn for the old days.

I had 6 under the age of 8 the last 2 only 10 months apart, the comment abofve about going on holiday and coming back with number 3 rings a bell, we had just moved house asn mother in law offered to look after the eldest 5 whilst we went away for the night to celebrate our anniversary, went for my post natal exam when little one was 6 weeks to be told "congratulations you are pregnant".

When i look back i wonder how we managed but we did. Dont worry about the house and take all the help you can get, if someone offers dont be a martyr snap their hand off .

OH and really enjoy the little one you have before the new arrival comes.

    oh and congratulations
