I have brought up three childen on my own for the past 9 years.
I went through the CSA which i have never received a payment. I think you are better of going through the courts, but i know about a man when they do not want to see there childen.

I know I am lucky to have my payments under a court order, at least the courts do take action if payments are not made (we will see if this is the case when I am in court next Thursday and whether he will have to pay the arrears) Dad's who have no interest in seeing their kids are the one's who miss out in my opinion.

Have been to court today and take back everything I have said about the court system.....they are just as bad as the csa! The urgent appointment that I had today because my ex had reduced the maintenance that is paid under a court order has been a complete disaster! The judge wasn't interested in the fact that my ex had reducedthe maintenancel, he asked my ex why he has reduced the payments, he said because he couldn't afford it.........that was the end of the conversation! He didn't ask my ex for his income and expenditure...nothing.........just accepted it.........didn't bat an eye lid about the arrears! The judge has deemed that there is another hearing after 15 June, when all my ex has to provide is his last 6 wage slips (which he will reduce his income...........2 of the weeks he is on holiday) In the meantime my ex is free to pay whatever he sees fit and does not have to pay the arrears at this stage. I explained to the judge that I had £60 in my bank account and was worried sick that I would be once again put ino debt by my ex...........the judge turned round and said "well you have got £35 per week in maintenance!" My ex was laughing and sneering at me all thewa through ther hearing. I am devastated, I don't know what to do, I am just crying all the time and feel like I am at rock bottom. Have been fighting for almost 5 years and can't take any more, I am so weary with it all.........can't see way out.

Would the CSA calculations be more than the 35 quid per week, even if he reduces his wages?

To be honest I don't know, he will reduce his income and do whatever it takes to pay the smallest amount he can x

Well it may be worth waiting until June and seeing what he is saying his income is, then making an immediate application to the CSA if the % under them is more as they should ask for his last 2 wageslips, or you could wait a couple of months to allow him to increase his earnings (they can look at the Year To Date figures which would show if he has dropped his income immediate prior to the assessment and then they can take those figures instead of relying on just the last 2 months).
