charge from electricity co. for damaged mains cable

  • I would query the charge with the distribution company as it seems very high. I would ask for a detailed breakdown of costs. I work for a distribution company & would have expected your damage cable to have come in at jointer fee of £95 x 3 hours, a couple of service straight joints material= £30 & VAT if applicable which would have cost just over £300. There is no set cable depths but we also take into accound how deep was the cable that was hit & if the cable was shallow then there normally is no charge to the third party who hit the cable.

I have seen cable damages where the customer has taken off the whole street that have come in cheaper then your cost. If you find that you are meeting a brick wall with the distribution company then ask to go down there complaints procedure & this could go as high as the ombudsmen if you are still not happy.

It depends if it needed an SD2 dig and what the distrubution area is, YEDL would charge double what you have stated for a standard none emergency
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
