the staff are told to get it through as quick as possible and get in trouble if they don't do it so quickly. They are well paid but have to remember lots of codes etc. I always find aldi great off to do a shop there today have been on money supermarket have got the prices of everything I want in the big supermarkets and will be trying to see what I can get in aldi before venturing to sainsburys. I'm a total bore when it comes to shopping I will go in all the shops to get the best possible deal usually takes 2 hours to do my shop and there is only two of us

They are still very polite though, as are those at Lidl. The staff at my two nearest Tescos are incredibly rude, and customers take their lead...have heard slanging matches between the two on more than one occasion. Can't beat my local Sainsbo's for customer service though.

I tend to buy quite a few things in Aldi. Their Manuka honey is an absolute bargain at £3.99!!!!

Only thing that annoys me is the way they throw your shopping at you at a hundred miles an hour - is there anyone who can keep up? -

What REALLY bugs me is they way they start putting through the next person's shopping whilst they are still dealing with your card payment.

I've been in 3 branches in different towns and it's always the same so that is obviously part of their training.

I hate the urgency and it really puts me off going tbh.

You have to be careful of over pricing even in Aldi, for instance as one example...
    4 pack kitchen roll @ Aldi £1.99
4 pack kitchen roll (Talent) @ my local premier £1.00
Granted they are different brands but are exactly the same design/thickness and roll length.

    Edit:
Just to add both are made at the same factory in Leicester

Interestingly - the 2 pack of kitchen roll actually has the same total number of sheets as the 4 pack - and is cheaper!
  • Our local Aldi has been open for so long I can't remember just when it did open. However, I have been getting most of my shopping there ever since and it's nice to see new items being stocked all the time. I tend to buy the same things each week and then go over to Asda or Sainsburys for what they don't sell (eg Taste the Difference salad stuff and potatoes, Onken FF yogurt, fresh pasta sauces, McCain Home Fries etc and also any branded items on a good offer) I particularly like Aldi's deli selection of ham & cheese and when they have a good offer on fresh meat I stock up on that too - last week it was Bacon at 99p and Lean Steak Mince at £1.99. And DH particularly likes their sausages! Fresh chicken is recommended too - both whole and fillets. I also like the fact you can be in and out in quick smart time - there's more to life than trailing round big supermarkets!
