I got passata from Tesco today, it's 29p.
There's not much I'd get from Aldi, maybe the chicken and veg but the rest all seems to be junk food, pizzas, cola, biscuits, crisps etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I disagree! The 'deli' section is amazing, so many lovely cheeses and cooked meats, olives etc. Lovely!
There isn't the massive choice overall you get somewhere bigger but do you really need a choice of five different brown sauce, for example, when you go shopping?
Aldi has some good frozen produce too - the fish and seafood are really good.0 -
We're very fortunate to have co-op, aldi, lidl, morrisons, sainsburys, tesco, asda and quite a few individual shops all within walking distance (about 20mins at the most). We do the main shop once a month online with whoever's cheapest as we don't have a car. Then we buy fresh veg etc as and when during the month. Inevitably it's Aldi...... their fruit and veg is cheap and always fresh as they have such a fast turnover of stock.0

Try the Torchon ham Barneysmom, it's nice.
Brie and Camembert are usually cheap along with their speciality cheeses.
Bacon is sometimes on offer and great quality.

Morrisons for main shop and Aldi inbetween. My family will only eat the Aldi baked beans!! And often find super 6 is best value. Would like to try Aldi for my main shop really but I'm worried that I would still end up going to Morrisons for bits and end up spending more that way!0

What I do is that I go to one supermarket and buy what is on offer, based on mysupermarket, this thread and the supermarkets' own website. Whilst I am there, I go up and down the aisles of interest and buy what is a good offer and need. Then I buy a few bits of things I needed anyway.
For example, this week I went to Morrisons. I bought up several packets of M Savers Custard Powder as its still 6p - Sainsburys and Asda have increased the price by 150% and selling it at 15p!!! for both myself and my parents. Morrisons is out of the way for them, not for me as half of the buses into town from where I live stop 2 mins walk from Morrisons.
Whilst I was there, I saw the Aero mousse 4 packs are half price and bought a pack of each of the caramel and white chocolate ones. They are lush!
Plus I was planning to have a side salad with a couple of evening meals this week and bought a bag of salad leaves that my work don't sell at all.0 -
We love Aldi. One opened nearby about 2 years ago and we didn't think we would EVER go in as we were happy shopping at Morrisons. Curiosity got the beeter of us anyay and we ventured in and began buying bits (biscuits, cereal, crisps) and gradually we have switched and now do the majority of the shopping at Aldi and top up at Morrisons if necessary.
Really notice though that when in Morrisons we leave light in the pocket and having virtually nothing in the trolley but when in MOrrisons we part with a small amount of money for a trolley full of stuff! It's brilliant value for most things. We have LL milk, super 6, gravy granules, wine (sometimes), crisps, breadsticks, herbs and 99p icecream. The clingfilm and washing up liquid are also exellent value.
I love ALdi too!!My beloved Grandmas mottos::A "A penny saved is a penny earnt"; "Nothing's a bargain unless you need it" "Mend and make do" #

we love aldi!
was so happy when one opened a 5 min or less walk away in the summer!
i would say i get 95% of my shopping there....i can only think of a handful things i must buy elsewhere, and i do get the good offers that suit me and my family from other shops.
best buys for me are the fruit and veg(especially super 6) and the deli type meats.0 -
We have been shopping at Aldi for about 2 years now. We also love all the deli items (cooked meat, olives etc). Most things we have tried we like except the crisps which I find the a bit too salty.
When I go to tesco now I am amazed by all the choice. It is a bit limited at aldi so can get a bit boring every week. However it generally is much cheaper and shopping is quicker with less choice! I tend to get the majority of the shop from Aldi but pop to waitrose to see what is on offer and look for reduced items.0
