Why do some companies hide there name when advertising jobs?

It seems ridiculous to be expected to apply for jobs without knowing who the potential employer is. The employer wants to know all about the applicant before deciding whether or not to interview, and the applicant should know about the employer before deciding whether or not to apply. There are as many reason why one wouldn't want to work for certain employers as there are reasons why an employer wouldn't want to employ a certain person. Both parties have to make informed decisions.
You can do so if you get an interview and decline, unlike when an agency puts your forward and will not tell you the company name in case you get your own CV to them first!
  • Your decision making process begins with knowing who the employer is and what they do. For example, I personally would not consider applying for a job with a company that conducted animal testing, or slaughtered animals for whatever reason.

I would suggest you cannot be that fussy if you are claiming any form of unemployment benefit.

Well as a vegetarian I would not work for a fur company or anything to do with the slaughter of animals, so I think you can be 'fussy' to some extent. Just like religon would stop someone working in a particular place, so would general beliefs.

That is fine if you are using your own money to support yourself. Where it is wrong is when others peoples money (some coming from people doing the jobs you would refuse) to support you.

It's also because a lot of the jobs you see are through agencies, and agencies won't disclose who their client is for numerous reasons, mainly so other agencies can't see which companies they have on their books. When I have been visiting agencies lately they all ask who else I am registered with and then try to get out of me which jobs I know about through their books. I just say I'm really sorry however I don't disclose that sort of information, next question ;-)

yeah and I have never paid tax or NI lol

So you think if there was a meat factory and I got a job there plucking chickens (as someone with 20 years accounts expereince) as a non meat eater I should be made to do it?

I would do any job as long as fur, or dead animals (meat) weren't involved.

and if it was against your religion? A Muslim would not go to work for the Jewish Cronicle, would they? Or a Christain would not go to work for a Muslim charity.

I would rather die than touch fur and dead animals for meat.

Religion is covered by (much abused IMHO) law.

To my knowledge, vegetarianism is not a religion, but a lifestyle choice.
