Believe me, take the offer whilst it's still on the table as it will end in tears.
True.
A good working gearbox, that'll last another 100K of it's design life free of charge.0 -

I would consider both gearbox and service items done at the same time as half the engine will be apart anyhow.0 -

Now the full story is coming out. This is important. Since owning the car how much has had to be spent on the car and for what in terms of:
A: Yourself
B: The dealer
C: The warrantyRenault.

not quite free of charge:D:Dbut i see where your coming from.im so glad i came on here.ive been frettin over this all day but now after talkin to you lot, givin me frank and honest views, not just what i want to hear,i feel i now know what i must do
I think you mis read me.
I meant even if they fit a good secondhand gearbox, to restore the car to the state it should be in, which I agree they can, if they do it free on charge, it could easily last another 100k, so it's not a bad option, compared to paying £450 for something you can drive for 150K. Would you have sold it by then?0 -

What's the outcome?
So far all I can see is what action needs to be taken.
You were referring to the thread as if it were some 'holy grail', whereas what it really was was some people kicking around a motor trader and being antagonistic.
The jist of the thread was
"i've got rust on an 18 year old car"
"all dealers are !!!!!!!s"0 -
That and the dealer sold a dodgy car, washed his hands, and some good advice as how to make a claim was given, while other dealers on here said "hard luck, let him keep the money".
Outcome, hopefully the op will involve trading standards, get the right result, and another dodgy dealer is held accountable.

Is the supplying dealer an official Renault dealer?0
