The funny thing is that I'm still being asked by friends to join their quiz team (I don't join them very often......can't be bothered sitting there all night unless the prize is something special).

Because OP asked. Its generally the norm to advise if a member asks a direct question.
Or we could go tip-toeing around the forums ignoring peoples questions just in case they don't like the answers given.
Simply saying "take care" in every situation we come across is hardly advice.
Would love to see how helpful it would be if my Doctor say to me "Good luck with your chest pains. Oh and do take care."0 -
I hope the GP listens and can help
Diary and friend also excellent ideas.
Just wanted to say don't panic if they send you for all kinds of scans etc - sometimes they need to rule out the potentially serious stuff before they can look at the milder diagnoses (I dunno, like hooking up someone to an ECG to make sure they're NOT having a heart attack, before they can say ahhh it's bad indigestion, here's some Rennie)

I've been to see the doctor. I was only in there less than five minutes in total.
I mentioned everything I've said on this thread. He made no comment on my occasional drink or spliff.
My last bi-annual check up was last summer. He looked at the last set of results and told me that everything showed I was fit and healthy.
I have to go for a fasting blood test later this week. I will see him when the results come in. He told me he can compare the result of the tests with my last set of tests to see if there are any major changes. If nothing comes back from these results, he is going to refer me to a memory specialist.
Although my present memory problems are not what he was talking about, for some reason having a doctor telling me that I seem fit and healthy makes me feel less worried than I was.
Cheers for all the help/support so far. I will keep you updated on the situation. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Sorry to hear about this.
I'd be sure to mention the agressive episodes as well as the black holes.

I had something similar a couple of years ago...
I was certain some-one was coming into our house and taking/moving things - which obviously led to me becoming anxious. The doctor put me on a high dose of anti-depressants which did no good for 10 weeks. She then sent me to the counsellor for 12 weeks, who signed me off - but i was still certain someone was in our house!!talke!!
Doctor then referred me to see a pyschologist as she thought i was crackers!
The pyschologist talked to me for about 10minutes before asking about sleepwalking - something i have always done (but never mentioned by the d octor who was fully aware that i did) and said that my brain was switching off at the wrong time of day, so whilst i was awake -i was having black holes in my time!!!
He prescribed something that wasnt for depression/anxiety ect and i was back to my normal self the next day!!!!
Everybody around me was for locking me up as i was totally crackers... 10minutes with a proper professional and i was sorted!0 -

Good for you for going.
Just don't let the doctor fob you off. This is still an issue and you may need to insist that you get it addressed.
Good luck!0 -
It does sound as though the doctor is taking your concerns seriously, the fasting blood test sounds like a diabetes check. The memory specialist will be able to refer you for further tests if he/she thinks that they are required so don't worry about being fobbed off just yet!
And it's good news that you're basically fit and healthy generally.
Do think about keeping a diary of any further episodes, a specialist, should you need to see one, will find it immensely helpful."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Just a quick update..............
I saw the doctor this morning to get the results of the blood tests. Everything came back fine. The doctor said that as far as he can see, I am perfectly fit and healthy.
He admitted that he has no idea what could be causing these gaps in my memory. He is referring me to see a specialist. I presume this will take a while (I see a doctor so rarely that I have no idea whatsoever on timescales for these things).
Once again, thanks for all the support here and I will let you know what happens next.
