Thank you.
Honestly. This was one of my first thoughts when this problem was made aware to me, but seriously (and I really have thought about this), a couple of spliffs every few weeks or so could not be the cause of my present situation. Consider that I am now 47, have been doing this all my adult life (less than ever now). My present condition is a new thing. So I do not believe it is a factor (although I will mention the odd spliff to my doctor).
Too much alcohol can also induce memory loss. I reckon most people here can recall an evening with a lost bit because they drank too much. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Who knows. Your go will guide you, its unlikely your first appt will be conclusive. Quit for now at least. You say that will be easy and you never know....0 -
Sorry but I do think that a couple of spliffs every few weeks is enough to have a cumulative effect on memory loss.
I hope this is reassuring and good luck with your appointment.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

But cannabis is getting stronger; oh, and it's illegal.:hello:0 -

And sadly, some GP's are better than others, if your GP doesn't listen to you, or tries to fob you off, telling you that it's your age or (if you're a woman) your "hormones", do seek a second opinion. If this is worrying you, then you need to find a doctor who will listen to you. Don't be intimidated and don't be afraid to insist on seeing someone else if you are not satisfied. Taking a friend along is also a good idea, trying to explain symptoms such as yours can be difficult, especially in ten minutes!
Very very very good advice. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can't hit your thanks button more than once, but please take these extra three.
I moved doctors for the first time ever two years ago. Before then, I have lived and worked all over the world/UK, but my doctor in London knew me since I was a kid and allowed me to stay registered with him (using my parents address).
Because I made (what I think) is a permanent move a couple of years ago, I changed doctors. I've seen my new doctor once for my biannual checkup (I came back healthy as normal).
I know that something is not right with me and if I don't feel that this new doctor takes me seriously, I will take your advice and go to see my '[strike]proper[/strike] old' doctor (even though he is in London and I'm in Devon). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I mentioned cannabis because I was being truthful in my post, not because I wanted to debate the legal situation.
But...........
If you want to know my thinking..........
Just look at EVERY SINGLE police station and hospital every weekend. They are full of drunks.
Now tell me that having a spliff every few weeks is wrong. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Well, as you're asking - IMO, yes, it's wrong.
Cannabis is also illegal whereas alcohol isn't (yes, booze can be destructive and I also feel that excessive drinking is wrong too).
There is no escaping the fact that the Law says that one is OK and the other is a crime.:hello:0 -

Excessive smoking of cannabis can cause mental problems - a few spliffs now and then cause no more problems than a few 'drinks' now and again.
cannabis is illegal if you supply it - a small amount for personal use is not going to land Rex in jail!
cannabis is also a very good narcotic where pain relief is concerned - much like morphine - which is derived from heroin.
Its ok to use heroin as morphine where pain relief is concerned - but buy it on the street and its illegal.0
