Wireless network tab missing

My wireless internet connection has stopped working. I have checked the network connections and there is only LAN or High Speed Internet - local area connection there which says a network cable is unplugged.
The only thing I have done differently is remove some unwanted programs but didn't think I had removed anything to do with internet.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and, hopefully, give me a clue as to what to do.

check for a physical switch on the pc, or a F-key combination to turn it on. What pc is it, which operating system??......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Thank you. operating system is windows xp - make of computer unknown. Wouldn't know where to look for physical switch or f key - sorry.0

Right Click my computer, click properties and then device manager and do a refresh there to see if it picks up wireless card.0

pc or laptop? sounds like an uninstalled usb dongle problem.0

F keys are along the top row of your keyboard. F1, F2 and so on.
Look for a switch on the edge or keyboard (if it's a laptop) with a wireless symbol on it. Normally a light may come on when the wireless is switched on.
How can you not know the make of your computer-it's written on it!No free lunch, and no free laptop

Sorry didn't realise I had not said it is a desktop and was made up for me that's why it doesn't have a name. Done the search of device managers etc and wireless is not there.
Been searching around different things, would trying to uninstall D-Link airplus have anything to do with this please? Or how would I find out about the wireless card installed in the computer?0 -
Letrs first look in the device manager.
- Click on Start and then Run.
- Type the following command (without quotes) in the Open: text box, and then hit the Enter key or click on the OK button.
"devmgmt.msc"
Device Manager should display right away. Click on network adapters and tell whats listed there, and also tell us if there are any unknown items (usually with a yellow or red mark against it)

Apologies our posts overlapped. If you did unistall the dlink software, then this is probably yr problem. You say "installed in", do we imply then that there an internal unit with an antenna poking out of the back? Or is it a dongle plugged into a USB slot?0 -
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernt Adaptor
Underneath has Other devices
Ethernet Controller
Thanks0 -
Yes there is an antenna poking out of the back0
