    Morning all!

Hugs and get wells to all suffering with colds and lurgies! Will prob jinx us now, but for once nobody in the house has so much as a cold, first time in months it seems, will be glad when the warmer weather arrives! Not that I ought to moan, rain washed away most of the little snow we had last night, think girls were a bit disappointed not to see the forecase 10 inches of white stuff lol!

Not planning on doing much today, other than bracing myself for the onslaught of half term next week ;) Kids are bigger now, so mostly entertain themselves, I just have to do the odd spot of refereeing, but boy can they put food away! So I am going to do a full menu plan to include breakfast, lunches and snacks, as well as dinner - and stick it on the fridge so nobody demolishes food for the next day's meals, at least that's the theory!

Have bread maker going, wm and td on, dw running - OH forgot to bung in a tablet after loading it last night! And have just had a bash at making goat's cheese, it's being squeezed under a huge jar of pickled eggs at the mo to remove the excess liquid, not sure how economical it will work out, but fun to try (if you have an odd sense of fun anyway!).

Big girls at school, ds off to take exam in a bit, and smallest pink practicing clip clop noises and making herself giggle! OH at work, and I'll be off to the supermarket when he gets home as my car is in the garage, quite enjoying not having a car, gives me an excuse not to be a taxi! Ins co offered a hire car, so if I get too crazy stuck in next week I shall take up the offer! So house is lovely and peaceful, except for the horse noises, and once I've sorted the menu plan and bunged on some veg to make another batch of baby food, I shall play with dd4, have a go a my knitting and catch up on some radio shows on iplayer, or the radio equivalent!

Have a good day all xxx

I'm just about to pop in to the Drs as apparently I need a refferal to the OT about changing my bath to a walk-in shower (my late OH's lodge said they may help to fund it for me which is nice)I have to clamcer in to the bath to shower and my joints aren't really very steady and my DD is worried in case I fall.I have had a couple of falls recently where my right leg just stopped working properly and I went down like a sack of spuds:) so fingers crossed .
I hope you can get this sorted soonest, JackieO. I used some DLA money to purchase a bath lift (don't want to lose my bath; a good soak is all that helps with my squeaky joints as often as not) which means Mr LW no longer has to lift me out of the bath, and I can get in and out at my leisure, just have to have the help with dressing and undressing is all. Brilliant!:T

Shall you get a shower with a little seat (you can get fold-up seats that are out of the way when not in use) so that if you feel the need for a sit-down while you're in there, you can?

That'll be lovely if OH's Lodge can help with funding, too.:o

I don't have a lot to have to do today, thanks to Mr LW; I have a top to wash by hand (it's in soapy water as I type);) and Mr LW has requested pasta with cheese sauce for dins, which takes me just 20 minutes to do from start to finish, so I'll wait til he's pulling into the drive tonight, just have the stuff out ready.

I did a stupid thing this morning - lifted the A-frame back up onto the bath after we'd done our morning ablutions, and wrenched my dratted shoulder again.:( Yes, I know I should've asked Mr LW to do it, but he was getting ready for work, and I thought I could manage.:( OUCHY!!

OK, let's see - the Kindle needs recharging; I have to email our next month's commitments to Mr LW at work (helps when they do the next month's shift rota, because he lets the guy doing the rota know when he's not available for - say - a weekend on call);) and I have some doggy photos I took in the pub to download from my phone, and that's about it!

  • Hi all,

Thankyou for the kind wishes and wonderings while I've been AWOL. Wednesday was a mixed blessing day. Firstly the consultant wanted to talk about my hip pain and agreed with me that it was the vertebrae and hip tumour that we've been expecting to flare up for a number of months. That one should be relatively easy to solve with radiotherapy. This starts a week yesterday.

Unfortunately my current meds aren't working. I wouldn't let him tell me if that meant new tumours, changes to existing ones etc as I simply do not want to know. But, as they aren't working they;ve decided that I need IV chemotherapy. I'll be having two lots, one that I haven't had before and one that I have. Neither have sicky side effects (fingers crossed) but both are achey and tiredness causing and of course I shall, again, lose my hair. This will start in March, probaly the first week.

I'm not feeling too bad about it in all honesty. I've always had it in my mind that I'd want to weigh up the pro's and con's of chemo carefully before agreeing because it's such a horrid time that unless I'm going to get more than say 6 months of good health afterwards it doesn't seem worth it. But in the end the Dr was so open about what treatments we'd go on to after chemo that I didn't feel that this was last chance salloon. Maybe I was kidding myself that I'd question it. Perhaps I always knew that I'd take the chance of more time and grab it with both hands.

So in the interests of Moneysaving I cancelled my hair appointment today, as it hardly seemed worth it. Last time I lost my hair very quickly once the drugs kicked in and I became a hat and scarf wearer almost immediately. Some of the lovely OS'ers knitted hats for me and I shall never forget the kindness that came my way. I still have a lovely flowerpot hat with a sunflower on which I wear when out in the garden. This time I shall go for hats and scarves again but I'll also consider a wig as I don't think my young nephew will cope with me without hair. He's such a sensitive soul and he gets upset enough about me being poorly as it is.

I would have updated you all yesterday but I had a nutrition class booked at hospital and I wanted to attend it. It's at least an hours journey each way on the bus and then the class itself followed by my first radiotherapy planning appointment and then home on the bus. By the time I got back I was cream crackered and then it was dinner time, chores etc until I dozed on the sofa.

Nothing much MS or OS is happening here today as I promised MrS I'd have a lazy day and wouldn't start doing things. I was hoping for a lie in but a very vocal cat was mewing outside my bedroom door at 7:45 and then my phone was tinking messages though from 8 onwards. It never normally does so I hadn't bothered to put it onto a quiet mode.

Lunch was lovely bubble and Squeak with poached eggs and not sure what dinner will be. Something simple and quick I guess.

So just a big Thankyou once again - and hugs to all that need them...

forgot to say.. the dentention.. phoned the school today and said that while i agreed with the detention the weather was so bad that i wanted her to come home today. last night before the snow came id made an agreement with her that she would walk to the bus station and get a bus half way home then my oh would go pick her up. she would have to pay for the bus herself... then the snow came this morning and i thought no ....the bus station was a 20 min walk from school and she would be freezing. so the school agreed that we could do it on the 21st feb. this is fine with me as i will have some money by then. sorry for the big winge yesterday but i thought:mad::mad::mad: i have been struggling to keep food costs down ( dont get me wrong i have plenty of food - things arent that bad yet!!) to use but trying hard and then i have unnecessary petrol costs.. anyway things are sorted now. thanks all for your kind words

Mind like sieve today so (((hugs))) to anyone else in need.

No snow here, just rain :(

Busy day, Fridays are the only day at the moment where I get to go to my office and have internet access for work purposes, so had lots to sort out! I also finished gathering all the evidence I need for my A1 Assessor award, so I am now qualified to assess qualifications like NVQ's/Btecs/KeySkills etc :D. Also had my 1to1 with my boss, I'm doing great and she wants me to train to become a Basic Skills Tutor next acedemic year so guess I won't be finishing studying after my PGCE after all :rotfl:.

Popped to Asda after work and got a takeaway curry :o not OS but it was cheap and will make 2 meals worth so can freeze the 2nd one.

Need to concentrate on uni work this weekend, so please give me a kick up butt to get started with it! :rotfl:

OS wise - recycling sorted, dishes washed

    Have a good evening all
