Condensing Boilers Are Rubbish!

But your complaint is about the model you decided to have installed with the integrated hot water reservoir - there are many condensing boilers that are not combi boilers and many combi boilers that don't have an integrated hot water reservoir, so John Prescott's policy has nothing to do with the problem you are complaining about.
You originally asked:
Do you yet accept that the problem is not because it is a condensing boiler?
NO! NO! NO! NO!:wall:You've heard the budget speech now you've been told. (thanks for the hint cepheus)
I've just noticed the three articles you referenced above are all exactly the same article - and not really a surprise that the Daily Mail uses the story to have a pop at Prescott.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
boozecruiser:
As I mentioned in my earlier post (completely ignored)
Your boiler is NOT a combi. It is a thermal store. It will pre-heat the water before diverting to the heating circuit.
Insisting that its a combi will only confuse matters as its irrelevant.
Its also irrelevant that its a condensing boiler.
Its also irrelevant that its oil fired.
The only relevant issue is that its a thermal store boiler and as such, by design, it will pre-heat a given amount of water as a priority.
It was your choice of boiler so complaining to Worcester about a boiler thats performing exactly as it should isn't really showing you in a good light I'm afraid. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -

The front of my Manual says...Floor Standing Oil Fired Condensing COMBINATION Boiler. You are just playing with words.
The boiler performing how the manufacturer intended does not make the fact that Hot water is being heated when I do not want it to be heated.
To me...this is a flaw. End of.
I don't intend wasting my time answering any more negative comments.
I started this thread to warn anyone contemplating buying a Worcester boiler to forget it in my opinion for the reasons I have already given.
And now I am weary of hissing in the wind. Bye.:wave:You've heard the budget speech now you've been told. I think what the OP means is..condensing combi boilers are rubbish.
Translated that means that many people are sold combi boilers which are not appropriate for their circumstances.
Many households would be much more suited to having a condensing wall mounted system boiler with a separate hot water storage cylinder.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
So are you going to edit the thread title that calls all condensing boilers rubbish when it is this particular model that doesn't meet your needs in one respect, and delete the references to John Prescott when he had nothing to do with the recommendation of this boiler nor your choice to have it.
I'm sure one day you will get a clue when it comes to this issue."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Heat only are still available.
Most plumbers try to flog people combi boilers as, not only are they more expensive, they can get their hands on the hot water tank which is worth quite a bit as scrap."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

"In 2005, the then-deputy PM John Prescott drew up a masterplan to help Britain meet its CO2 emissions targets, as dictated by the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. This involved a new law ordering that all new and replacement boilers fitted to British homes — some 1.4m annually — must from that date be of the condensing type".

So get YOUR facts right M8.
It is because of the likes of Prescott that one has NO CHOICE but to fit a Condensing Boiler.
Only for it being the LAW I would not have purchased a Condensing Boiler at all...least of all Worcester.
I took advice on the best model from the Installer.
How on earth anyone can defend Prescott after the devastation he left behind on the road and knocking down thousands of homes which could have been refurbished I do not know.
You are another one who's rubbish advice I can well do without...including the poster above you.
Let us not forget that Prescott and the govt were intensively lobbied by the major boiler manufacturers, I used to work for one of them at a relatively senior level, to implement this change.
Of course it was largely sold on the "environmental benefits" and my Combi has certainly been far cheaper to run than my old heat only boiler. However, by happy coincidence, the combi/condensing boilers are more complicated and more profitable for us than the old style. Lobbying clueless politicians certainly pays off for some."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Your welcome.:D
My Worcester Bosch condensing boiler must be different as it is not rubbish like yours, it does exactly what I asked for when I specified what I wanted and planned the installation with the installer.:p0 -

My Baxi one is fine. It does the job perfectly.
The one it replaced was 20 years old. The estate I live on was built 20 years ago and all of the boilers are starting to go, according to the fitter. He has done 8 near me in the last year.
I reckon, even with the extra cost of it being a Combi, with what I save on the annual boiler cover (5 year guarantee, service £50 a year) and the fuel efficiency, it will pay for itself in 5 years which is great as Combi's tend to last 7 years."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
