Well done for putting up premiums for the rest of us.
No-one "puts money aside" following an accident, I would have put in a formal complaint about cold calling your numberSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I have just been trying to find out about them (UK Assist)because of a call I got before.I have to admit,my first thought was 'Yes please' when I was told I could get £1800.But then he let a fundamental assumption get my ...ahem senses smelling the rotton stuff. He asked to speak to me by name, knew my address, and that there had been an accident (it was a bump in a supermarket car park, nothing so sereious as an accident) It was all going swimmingly for him, till he asked if there was anyone else in the car.Emmmm, yeah, there was.THE DRIVER!!All documentation to do with the car,the repairs, every little thing is all in my Hubbys name.I was there, yes, but I don't even think the person who hit us knew it.I was never mentioned in the original report because there was no need,I was not injured,I saw nothing, the other person admitted everything to my Hubby there and then.I was recovering from a bad illness, not that long out of hospital and was not feeling,or looking my best,so when we where bumped,I shrank down in my seat and wished the weather was warmer. If I was not so sure of this,I might of believed this nice sounding chap on the phone, and gone and given out all sorts of information.
What do they hope to do with it all?I don't know, but since having my 'identity stolen' 11 years ago and only getting rid of the trouble that caused last year,I am,shall we say,a little difficult to get information out of over the phone.I pleaded forgetful when he asked the cars reg and told him to call back tomorrow when he could speak to my Hubby. So what does he do?Calls back about two minutes later asking if there is any chance he can talk to Hubby now, tonight, cos the file needs to be closed. He took it with good grace when I said not a snowball's and Hubby will only be in tomorrow.I do wonder if he will phone back.
Ready and waiting cos I have a horrid feeling that is the first of many, and they where rather believable.
So when will the real UK Assist help put the record straight about the insurance pot that is not?0 -
I understand their number is 0151 221 9676 (contact appears to be Liam).
UK Assist is very similar to a persistent bad rash. They claim that there is money waiting following a car accident which is completely untrue. Even when we explained there was no injury they asked us to think again. They give cowboys a bad name!
They call every week and when I politely advise we are not interested and today they incorrectly called me "a scouse !!!!!." I migh have to report this now to the police.
I would love to pay them a personal visit to compliment them on their tenacity and high business ethics so if anyone has managed to discover which rock they live under the address would be most welcome.0 -
i myself received a call from UK assist and they were very friendly to be frank. they told me everything that had happened from where they received my number and how to claim my money back. i am not one for claiming myself but they told me that the third party insurance company had to put money aside for myself by law. i was a bit skeptical but i went through with it and they regularly called me making sure that i am okay. i received the money 7 weeks after the sign up and i bought my grandson a game console as well as a holiday for me and my husband. now i know they have got some bad press and i did question them on that when they gave me a courtesy call and they told me that they were dealing with the issue. i am not to sure what that means but i believe them anyhow. personally i would give them a 10/10 due to how lovely they were to me. if anyone wants to speak to the member of staff i spoke to i can give you the number they phoned me off. hopefully this help others like me. but the on i dealt with is in Manchester and not Birmingham perhaps they are different companies im not to sure
What are they like to work for?0 -
Received a call today from UK assist about an accident I supposedly had a couple of years ago. The person on the other end said they were working on behalf of an insurance company who was willing to pay me compensation. They knew my name, address and phone number.
Never having had this invented accident, I started asking questions, the other person hung up their phone.
I suppose they will get lucky with perhaps 1 person in 10, who has had a real accident!
The number they called from was 0151 375 98730 -
Received a call today from UK assist telling me they were calling about an accident. The car I drive has never been in an accident so I just interrupted them with a big no and hung up.
The number they called from was 020 3634 20260
