I had a call from 'uk assist' last night regarding a car accident in 2010. The driver of the other vehicle has had a personal injury payment and they say anyone in my car can claim aswell even though no one was recorded as being hurt. I challenged this claim culture and the guy said if I didn't claim my insurance company would and that it comes from a government 'pot' so doesn't add to insurance premiums etc. Has anyone come across this before and are they 'uk assistance' which appear a lot in these blogs?

They are just after money I guess0 -
Had a similar call today, for an accident in 2009, where the other driver was at fault. A claim was settled for the repair of my car, no one was injured, so I can't understand how more can be claimed. UK Assist gave a similar reply to Trigg and guaranteed me a minimum sum. I became very wary when the guy had no knowledge of the claim nor my car details. Since the call, I cannot find any trace of UK Assist on the internet nor as an active company on the Companies House web site. Sounds a bit iffy to me. Will be talking to them again on Monday.0

I had a call this morning and haven't had an accident they claimed to be representing uk insurance companies soliciting feedback. They said that they understood I had been involved in a minor accident, if you call enough people you will get lucky with this. I'm guessing that if I had said yes then they would have offered me some 'advice' on how to make a claim....
All too common these days surely there must be some kind of regulatory body who monitor this?0 -

No "regulatory body", but you can try putting your number on the TPS to stop (or at least reduce) this type of cold call.
Then if you continue to get them you can report the caller to the TPS for them to take action.0 -
UK Assist - Sounds like some dodgy backstreet claims management outfit (using a name that's intended to confuse)0

I do wonder if they are UK Assistance (which is part of RBS) or another company with a name intended to sound similar? Certainly others on here are assuming they are one and the same0

I've just had a call from them asking to speak to someone who died 8 years ago. When my daughter told them this they then started going on about someone having an accident in the last two years. My daughter passed the phone to me, they told me that I had had an accident in last 2 years and I could claim. I told them that I hadn't. He then told me that the lady who had died had had an accident in the last 2 years, which I told them how could she as she had died 8 years ago. He then started to question how did I know that! I admit I then swore at him and called him a moron. He told me that I was a "Fat F'ing !!!!!" for swearing like that in front of a child my daughter) so I stupidly said that she wasn't a child but an adult and he then started saying "Does she want to come and suck me then?"! Which he kept repeating. I then asked for his supervisor and he put me onto someone else, and when I asked for their address he gave me the address, very smoothly, of Anfield Cemetery.
I want to get their details as I want to put a complaint in to the police about them.0 -
