But while they are waiting in the last 2yearsr i have bought 4 properties and my wage has only just increased to £25k. The property game is different now and you can either learn the new rules or wait around for the crash and hope you can do something about getting yourself a place then.

There are no new rules. Only new fools.

There's nothing new under the sun. The greed of man is constant.

I welcome the day when such a boast as "I've bought four properties" is something to be utterly ashamed of.

Now go sell some rice to some starving Africans.

Oh dear, looking for a fight are we? ;) Well you won't get one from me I'm afraid. I'm sitting quite pretty here as others have told me, happily saving away.

Meanmachine is bang on the money, if you'll forgive the expression. Houses are for living in, not gambling on. Well, you'll see soon enough. It's amazing what short memories some people have.

Well, it has been over a day since I posted the thread and, quelle surprise, it has not appeared. Could it be that your beloved website engages in one sided censorship and is, in fact, the biggest "vested interest" of them all?
I don't know. I see plenty of 'bullish' threads on there. What are you trying to post? And I wouldn't call it 'beloved' :o It does interest me at the moment though.

Just an illustration of the delusional and hypocritical mentality prevalent amongst the HPC brigade.

I give up. Probably best that you keep off the forum if you've that kind of attitude.

"Inflation up to 3%, the crash is coming, etc etc".

Next month... "CPI down 10% to 2.7%, but who cares, it's just meaningless VI spin anyway, and in any case, my personal inflation is 56%".

"House price surveys show slight dip in month, it's coming guys, get ready, etc etc".

Next month... "house price surveys show prices up, but who cares, it's just meaningless VI spin anyway, and in any case, my mate Dave has a mate who has been trying to sell his house for 6 years and has reduced the price by 80%, therefore house prices are going down for a FACT".

"BTLs are such greedy and selfish evil people, it's just not fair. Now let's all pray for a crash so we can pick up a cheap repo from a newly made homeless family".

    etc etc

It's all hypocrisy, double standards, spin spin spin. The forum is largely a disgrace.

So disgraceful that you're throwing a wobbly because they won't let you play with them.

It's an open forum like this one.

I personally find the sexist, racist, homophobic comments on there much more offensive, but I guess the remarks questioning your sacred property value are all that matters.

    Grow up.

No it isn't. This forum doesn't censor comments that disagree with, or question its agenda. This forum is how a forum should be.

I can't say I've noticed any comments like that, hence why I didn't comment on them, but please don't have the arrogance to assume you know my personal priorities.
    Grow up.

We might have to agree to disagree about the affordability because i think that mental conditioning has a lot to do with success as well. I have little faith that the self pitying crowd will benefit from the crash because they will find some other excuse as to why they couldn't do it and find something else to blame.

I am perfectly aware that 15% is way above average but i was never into getting rich quick. I'm building slow and research intensively. I'm building my portfolio to last any down turn in the economy.

A guess all i'm saying and from my own experience is that you can blame, whinge, moan about the economy all you want but it is not going to get you any closer to meeting goals. Getting your own property can be done in any cycle.

I can agree that some people would always be too cautious to buy any property, at any time. However, affordability is now a real issue for many people. Even under the lax lending criteria that banks work with these days, many people are still not able to borrow enough money. They could always lie to buy by getting a self-certified mortgage, but the chances are they would have so little income left, they would not be able to live once they have paid their mortgage every month.

Getting a property can be done in any cycle. However, whether someone can afford to keep it and eventually own it is another matter.

From what you say it would seem that your only experience of being involved in the property market has been in recent times. What would you do if interest rates rise to 7%, we have a recession and you cannot find enough tenants? Your own income will probably not go very far if you have to pay all the interest on all your mortgages without rental income.

Yes it is different this time.

And the new rules are: Ever-Increasing Debt transformed into ever-increasing House-price rises.

Sounds like a Sound idea to me! :money:
