BT Line Rental is £14.70, Anytime is £4.90. Total £19.60. So your quarterly payment should be no more than £58.80, not £75.00. Deduct £5 for exclusive calls (make these from your mobile allowance if to mobiles), still £11.20 too much. So something is wrong there.
I fail to see the attraction of 'free' Freeview if you already have Freesat though? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
a free freeview box, anything for free is a attraction.
the line rental does look to be cheaper from virgin, the guy also said that the £7.90 would never increese for as long as i kept the phone line,so it's a fixed costing, which also sounds very good.0 -
currently paying bt £75 per quarter for thier anytime calls package.
virgin broadband £15 pm for thier small broadband.
tv is freesat in 3 rooms costs £0
the bt bill is curently made up of about £5 additional call charges, and £70 standing charghes and vat.so working on my current phone useage, after the six month free, the vm phone line should cost me about £28 per quarter.the only worrying thing is the guy i spoke to at the call centre, said he would be emailing me the details, which havn't arrived, and that if i got a letter from virgin to ignore it,as that would show the full price on it.
This phone call is sounding dodgier and dodgier. Do not agree to ANYTHING unless you explicitly have it in writing!
You are paying rather a lot to BT. £25 a month to BT and £15 a month to virgin means you are currently paying £40 a month for phone line, broadband and calls. This can definitely be reduced, but I shall say again I do not necessarily think this "Virgin deal" is going to be the best way to do that.
From 1st April, you will be paying a 15p per call connection fee! 0845 calls are not included on some of their tariffs, so check that too. If you are making a lot of non-inclusive calls on BT, you will find those more expensive on Virgin, which is generally accepted as having some of the most expensive call rates of all UK landline phone services.
Do you get your virgin broadband via a coaxial type cable via their fibre optic network or via the BT phone line and ADSL router? This makes a difference to the options available. What data download amount do you need?0 -
As above. VM cannot possibly be offering any service at a fixed price 'for life'.
I have no idea what kind of scam this is, but it is sounding more and more dubious the more you tell us!
Ring VM back and ask them what system notes are on your account about this offer. I expect that they will know nothing about it.
VM telephony is the most expensive around, If you sort your BT acount out, you can save a minimum of £100 a year if you use Line Rental Saver as well.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
yes i agree it does sound very dodgy, and now no email as promised by the telesales staff? will ring virgin this morning to try to get them to confirm the details.the broadband i currently have with virgin is fibre optic, which is why i choose it,it does come with a download limit, but in the 2 yrs or so i've had it i've never gone over that limit, dispite there being 3 laptops useing it in the household + xbox live.so i'm not planning on changing that service as it does offer the best speeds for my area 5mb and is going to 10mb in june.
will let you know what mr branson's staff have to say about this, lol
thanks to all for your input0 -
I thought all VM cable subscribers were upgraded to a minimum 10MB nearly two years ago now? Did they forget your area?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Have you checked your local availability recently? There has been lots of network infrastructure investment going on and you may find this has changed.
Even if a "for life" deal was personally signed by Mr Branson I'm not sure I'd trust it.0 -
Please everybody take my experience as a warning, haveing just spoke to vm in the uk,this package that was being offered to me doesn't exist? The price for the landline after the first 6 months would have gone upto £21pm i'm now going to contact ofcom about this blatent misselling.i will also make my complaint to virgin media if i can ever find a email addresse to make the complaint to? As the manager i've just spoken to doesn't know it or how to find it? Very strange very a media company.looks like there still useing their shaddy practices from the ntl handbook0
-
When you rang VM did you ring a Sales number or a CS number? That could make a difference to knowledge of offers.0

i rang virgins genaral enguiries, the lady who answered the call was very shocked about the actions of their india sales team, but said they could do nothing about it? i was then passed through to a manager who was less concerned about the matter.but did say make a complaint by email, but couldn't give me the email addresse.after 20mins digging through vm site i did manage to find a way of sending my email complaint, and am waiting for a responce.i also emailed ofcom to highlight this dispicable sales practice, and have now recieved their reply, which suprise suprise is thank you but we don't get involved in this type of thing, and you should take it up with virgin?.0
