  • What is the name of the company offering you this service? Without that, your question is meaningless.

I think something has been lost in translation. How can VM even offer a Freeview install, this requires a possible aerial install at the property-not a service offered by VM? That price doesn't even cover line rental.

Are you currently a virgin media broadband only customer?

The standard price for stand alone broadband, once promotions are over, with Virgin Media (as a cable customer) is currently £22.50/month.

Does this mean that you are being offered unlimited calls and line rental to be added to this for a further £7.90/month (albeit free for 6 months) ?

That means a standard price of £29.50 for broadband, landline and unlimited calls. This is comparable to something available from many suppliers, including TalkTalk, PlusNet, Primus etc, offer a £25/month or less option.

What exactly have you got now? Who are you paying for what? Are you a Virgin Media Cable or National customer? If you're looking to keep your BT number then does that mean you have a BT line? It sounds like you can make some definite savings - but possibly not with this offer. There are probably better savings to be had.

What have you got - broadband/phone wise - and what do you want?

Freeview is a terrestial service via an aerial. And it's free anyway.

I know Virgin started to offer freeview boxes to their National (non-cable) customers about 5 years ago, but I thought they'd long since knocked that on the head.

Are you currently paying BT for a phone line?
What do you currently pay for broadband, phone line and calls?
Divulge that information and it becomes possible to tell you if this is a great deal (and I still don't believe someone is coming round to "install" a freeview box, but I could be wrong, seems like an odd thing for VM to want to do). They have not had a "free" version of their cable TV package for many years.

A Freeview box costs from a tenner. And no install is necessary-you plug it in. But do you already have a working external aerial, without which it will be useless?

currently paying bt £75 per quarter for thier anytime calls package.
virgin broadband £15 pm for thier small broadband.
tv is freesat in 3 rooms costs £0
the bt bill is curently made up of about £5 additional call charges, and £70 standing charghes and vat.so working on my current phone useage, after the six month free, the vm phone line should cost me about £28 per quarter.the only worrying thing is the guy i spoke to at the call centre, said he would be emailing me the details, which havn't arrived, and that if i got a letter from virgin to ignore it,as that would show the full price on it.
