    Apologies. Posts deleted.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Add to that £5 from the Halifax that's an additional £60 a year, and you have my plan. Not sure where you get a 3.2% feeder though.

Yeah, Halifax monthly fivers play a useful role in hoovering up every conceivable penny, lol. My 3.2 feeder is a Santander esaver from a bit earlier this year. Appreciate there's nothing like this around now - but would expect serious savers have some of their money in 3.2% (or better).

.... plus we also need to figure in the loss of interest involved in keeping the £25k in an instant access account as we drip feed it.
Sorry, I should have made that clear. I wasn't suggesting you should keep £25K (or £25K - £9.6K) in an instant access account. Assuming you would stick £9.6K into this dripfeed-malarky, the remaining £15.4K would e.g. go into UBL (3.25% for 1 year) - or already sit in an account that pays similar or a bit more.

I would be surprised if there wasn't still a financial advantage from sticking as much as possible into those top rate Regular Savers. And seeing that your wife does not pay tax, she would obviously make quite a bit more on the numbers in my example, plus she could probably exploit some more Reg Savers - there are a couple on 5% and 4%....i haven't done the non-tax-payer numbers, but wouldn't be terribly surprised if they paid more, bottom line, than the 1-year Cahoot bond.

Also, your wife not paying any tax suggests she doesn't work regularly, so she may be able to devote the odd hour here and there to the necessary administration of all those Regular Savers? The admin is pretty important since you could easily lose sight of some money - but it's not hard to keep track of things. I use an ancient copy of MS Money myself, but a simple spreadsheet, or even just a manual sketchbook, should be plenty.

.(Just seen your edit about feeder - best we can get is our 3.1% esaver)
Yes, appreciate not everyone is still on 3.2, but 3.1 is pretty close to my examples. You can work out yourself whether it would still be worth it for you.

May be I should change my sig to rabbit on about little acorns, lol, but I do actually believe in them ;)

Skipton My Savings Online accounts are no longer listed as available for new customers. They were paying 2.5%. The web site doesn't mention the accounts as current or closed issues. There is a similarly named branch/telephone account paying 2.25%.

Update: I just logged in and see that my existing online account is still paying 2.50%

Just in case anybody hasn't seen it yet (and yes I know it's not a savings account): Lloyds Vantage promotional 4% for a year, some pre-reqs must be met.
