This post prompted the purchase of striping tape, assorted rhinestones and two more Konad plates. You lot are such a bad influence :D

I'm away in Greece and the bad influence even reaches here. I've just gone into a random Greek shop and walked out with three of what look like flaky topcoats in blue, green and gold for 5Euros each. Now to test them all and see what they really look like!

I used masking tape first to tape off the bottom part of the nail. If you aim for roughly the same angle when you put the tape on you should end up with even diagonals. Then I took the tape off, let it dry, added the glitter and then added the striping tape to tidy the line up.

Well it *sounds* simple enough but I fear I can make it all a into rather a mess!
I tried masking tape diagonally to do stamps that were too small for my whole nails and ended up trying to paint my left hand with my right fingers all half stuck together - I think taping one hand at a time might be more sensible? It was all quite funny and I did get there in the end. If I knew how I'd post a picture.

I know someone has explained before but if someone would do it again please? Copying and pasting a photo just made the forum blow up on me.

Oh and the striping tape - do you put it on then cut it or do you have to cut it to the right length then stick it on? I shall probably give in and get some, even thought I have a vision of me with all my fingers stuck together having to wait for the other half to come home to rescue me ;)

I'm another one who ordered striping tape , surprised how cheap it was on the link ! Look forward to having a play with it . I also bought some cosmetic cotton buds in Boots £1.40 a pack. Never noticed them before . They have a pointy end and a flat end , for eye shadow etc. Pointy end will be good for polish clean ups .

    Hi all,
I hope you don't mind me joining you.

I used to love doing my nails years ago but it all stopped when bouncing babies started to arrive!!!

Am really getting back into it now but I really dont know where to start. Its changed sooo much since my day (how old does that make me sound. lol)

Have been having a look through this thread and all your nails look amazing. Can anyone give me an idea of where to start with the nail art stuff, good quality varnish etc (hopefully Dh wont mind the ebay bill too much!!) Am going to give a crackle glaze a go tonight and see what happens.

    Thanks in advance

I'd been sketching around with a few ideas for silly nails, much like the Marvel nails I posted earlier in the thread. Finally decided on a set of jubilee nails, with The Queen, some guardsmen and hand drawn union flags on the thumb nails. This is an original design. My daughter loves it!
