I've been having fun with the stamping. I bought a Konad scraper things, and stamp thing, but went for a few cheapy plates off ebay. Enjoying them so far, corse I'm useless at getting them on fully, straight, the right way up, or anything else, but having fun so will get there.

BUT, I'm struggling with a remover. I currently use a boots acetone free one, and have some weird orange pots from Home Bargains (wipes, with out acetone) and eventually it will get it off, but I think because there's quite a few layers (and I'm addicted to layering on the clear glitter on top) it just takes for ever to get it all off. Once the top coats are off, and we're down to the 1st coat normal stuff, easy. But that top few levels just shred the cotton pads, or orange pad thing trying to get it off.

I don't object to buying a decent remover, but there is so much out there, that I do object to going through all of them to find one that cleans easier. (it's the same with the crackle, that's tough to get off) Can anyone recommend any I can try? I saw a pure acetone for removal of false nails, and was tempted to try that one!

i normally wear about 5 layers of polish the last lot was dark blue and the remover i used was Tesco own brand it took it all off, just soak the cotton pad place on your finger and hold for about 10 seconds then gently rub of. i have the orange pads from home bargains not tried them yet as i am using asda remover pads and thay are pants.

Acetone is good, but it makes the skin around your fingers grim. If you are using glitter polish have you tried the foil method explained in the first post in this thread

The orange pads are weird they do get it off eventually, but I tend to use a few pads on the darker colours, it's really oily though. I can't just wipe it off, I need to really soap up my hands to get rid of it. Thus said, they were very cheap, and on normal non-glittery stuff work quite well.

I haven't tried the foil method, but I will, after reading that. Thanks!

I use the Cutex nail varnish removers. I find them much more effective than the really cheap bottles and they're not too expensive, usually about £2.

I've got some konad plates but more of the cheaper ones . Some I can do ok but I need more practice as some look rubbish . In info I got sent it said to use a remover with acetone to clean plates + stamper or they may not work as they should. I start off removing the polish with remover with acetone + when I get closer to nail finish with acetone free one . My nails are good at present as the polish is protecting the tips which sometimes split . The glitter is hard to get off + puts me off a bit . I haven't tried the foil method yet .
  • oh god, I haven't even received the superdrug order from the weekend yet and buyapowa are doing a group buy on china glaze polishes!! I'm going to resist (hard!) but thought I'd let you guys know!!

The Nails Inc Berkeley Street on my toesies has now been topped with Revlon Radiant, that's another untried that has become a tried:j
Weekend nails have been Chanel Graphite, but badly chipped today, so back to bare nails and LD treatment for another few days.

    Hi all

I love this thread & read every day. Can't claim to be an addict, more of an "all or nothing polisher" i.e. either lavishing nails with loads of attention when they are behaving (as they are now) or ignore them when broken or ravaged by chores.

Anyway, bit of information you may find useful (not that I want to feed anyone's addiction but wouldn't want you all to miss out). Popped into Ald*i today for groceries & they have some lovely new nail colours in. I'm usually quite traditional & like my trashy reds but was sorely tempted by these today. They have had a really nice turquoise in for a while but had a new paler shade called Peppermint today, reeally pretty, also had a pale lemony colour & some nude shades which were really nice too. I've been using their polishes for a while &, as previously posted, I really rate them & find them as good as really expensive ones I've used in the bad old days. I really do think a lot of how a polish performs is down to the application. Anyway, have a look, £1.99 each & well worth it.

Also bought a product in our local Bodycare store (think this is a national chain?). It's a rapid dry spray, with Vitamin E, & claims to dry polish in 60 seconds. It's by Elegant Touch, £2.50 for a 125ml can. Has anyone here tried it? I'm polishing tonight & will give it a go & report back.

Bodycare also had looooads of fab glitter polishes, really pretty holo shades in vibrant blues, rainbows etc. all at much less than £2 each. They also had some lovely little nail art stickers. I know one of the SA in there & she said they're really good & stay on well. She popped one on my thumb (from a damaged pack she had in the stock room) & it stuck like billy-o, instantly, on my polished nails, couldn't believe it! Bet they'd last well under a top coat. They also had lots of crackle coats. They also had some polishes with a tiny pot of really fine, pretty glitters in a contrasting colour on the tops of the lids, i.e. paint with polish, sprinkle with glitter - oooo sparkly - also less than £2.

In short, Bodycare had some very pretty, reasonably priced polishes & nail art!:rotfl:

Will report back on the spray. I was dithering around in Boots about buying some Seche Vite but it was £9 which I couldn't stretch to so this was an affordable alternative.

Thanks to all posters, I love reading here, especially those techno wizards who post pics! x
