being bullied at work while pregnant

  • I've sent a PM of where you can get that advice spoken about earlier ;)

From my point of view; you need to follow the procedure rigidly when calling in sick.

When you are at work; if anything is said - take out a notebook, and your pen, look at your watch and note the date, time, person and exactly what was said - word for word. If she asks anything - you must say 'I have been advised to record every incident'. And say not one word more.

This will either stop her in her tracks or it will give you a good base of knowledge on which to base your discrimination complaint which I suspect may be coming.

thanks for that i will post and see what advice i can get :)

yes i think i'm best ringing myself so they cant say anything and i will do as you say with the pen and paper, i'm hoping i won't have to take it as far as discrimination but i've had enough of being bullied so i won't take this laying down. thanks :)

I'm sure you'll get good advice there (not to deny that there has been good advice here too of course), I'll take a look and see how it works out.

    Good luck :T.

Yes but if there is a sick absence procedure in place which requires staff to ring in by, say, 10am on the morning of absence, just telling them when you want is going to get you disciplined!

I meant telling work your pregnant not calling in sick. Sorry it wasn't clear

What sort of company treats a pregnant woman like this?! It's really made me cross has this thread.

As for telling work...you should tell them when you blumming well want...especially if their are health complications. In my job pregnancy related sickness never counts against you as it couldn't happen to men and it's sexist! : ) Maybe I work for a damn good company but surely all employers have to treat their staff with respect..whether they are happy about having pregnant staff or not.

If you do have a HR department I'd speak with them immediately. Can you put a grievance in about the manager?

Have you proof that its the company or maybe that it is just one manager? This really annoys me when there is one rogue manager and whilst they are working for the company they are NOT the company. They could have 99 great managers who obey the laws and go beyond.

    Grrrrrr
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!
  • Speak to the midwife about your concerns . . When my work wanted me to do an 18 hour day whilst 7 months pregnant it was my midwife who was able to intervene.

well i work for quite a large company but it just seems to be the managers in my store, i know of people that work in other stores and they don't get spoken to or treated like we do in our store, i don't think its the company as a whole i just think its the store i work in thats the problem. if there was another store close that were looking for staff i would be seeking a transfer but nothing available atm.
