Recording from Freeview Radio (BBC Radio 4 Channel 704)

Yes. full rescan is the one. It's not strange, your DVD recorder is recording from thre attached TV. Your PVR is recording (or attempting to record) from it's own internal tuners. As Heinz said, if they are incorrectly set, it won't have any signal to record.
Thank you again. I've done a full rescan. At first all the 'guide' channels to record from rescan disappeared - the channels were all there but no times to select the individual programmes. I tried again and they had reappeared! 'Weird' things are happening. I selected to record BBC Radio 4 World at one and it shows as recording BBC News at one - Channel 1 and not 704 - and I definitely selected 704 World at One (BBC Radio4 and not TV BBC Channel 1) to record! I'll wait till the recording finishes to see which one has recorded but it looks as if it's recording the TV and not Radio!
It's fantastic that folks on the forum are so willing to offer this kind of help - it is very much appreciated. (Edit - I've just checked and it's recorded BBC1 - not BBC Radio4 - my mind is boggling! I went on to try record another Radio programme and, again, it did not record. I've noticed when I press record I'm not given the next option to click OK to the timer recording, although the red dot comes on indicating that it has been selected to record - really confusing.) I tried to record a TV programme and it was fine. If you have any suggestions I'll be grateful.

How are you trying to record the programme?
From your TV or from your recorder.
If from your TV to your recorder you will record whatever TV or radio channel your TV is on.
My mother had that problem as she could record what she was watching on the TV to her old video recorder as well as record using the video recorder.
She would set it up to record by watching it on the TV then change channel and of course ended up recording what was on the TV.0 -
My sagem doesn't record radio - and sagem claim this is because the rules are different in different parts of Europe - so maybe it's for multiple markets and just doesn't do it. I can set recordings but it just doesn't record, like you describe.0

I'm using the TV remote control to select HDMI for the Hard Disk Recorder. I then select Guide using the HD Remote control. I click to record and a red dot comes up against the programme I have selected to record. Usually a box comes up to click 'OK' but for the radio programmes this box does not come up - the icon just appears against the programme on the HD Guide indicating that it will record - then it does not record. I have recorded Radio4 successfully in the past but I have lost this facility now.
Thank you for your reply.

I'm puzzled because I have been able to record radio on the same TV with the same HD Recorder previously - the facility seems to have disappeared although it seems to go through the motions but then does not record.
Many thanks for your reply

Just out of interest, can you record radio if you set up to record manually rather than record off the EPG?0 -

I had never recorded manually, scotsbob, as I only bought my HD Recorder in December. Because I had recorded radio off the EPG successfully it hadn't been a problem. I read the instructions and tried to record radio manually - but, unfortunately, still no success.
It really is not a big problem but I'm curious because it used to be possible for me to record radio on the HD Recorder and now this 'option' seems to have disappeared.
Thank you.

You keep saying that you used to be able to record radio channels before, before what?
What has changed since then?
Are you still using the same equipment as before or have you changed any of your equipment such as leads?
Have you disconnected your connections and then reconnected them?
You don't really give much information other than you used to do it.
Something must have changed.0 -

Thanks st999. I'm sorry if I am being vague. What I mean is that just out of the blue I found that from the same equipment and leads etc. in the same room I could no longer record radio programmes.
As you say something must have changed. I hadn't touched or interfered with anything. As you mention it the only things I can think of now are that a notice comes up on the screen every now and again saying that a new channel has been found - I think the system is programmed to update automatically when a new channel is available.
I did have a power cut when everything went off for about two hours but I thought things were back to normal when the power supply was reconnected - I wonder if it could have been anything to do with that. I didn't lose any of the stored programmes on my title list at that time. I can't be certain but I think I managed to record radio successfully as normal after that. I'm puzzled by it.
The only other thing I have done was after the problem arose and that was when, for the first time, I retuned.
I appreciate your interest.
Many thanks

Thank you very much to everyone who replied. I contacted Sony and they advised me, on selecting the title list of recorded programmes, to then go on to press a yellow button to change from TV recordings to Radio.
I did this and found about 28 programmes I had recorded from Radio - problem now resolved. The puzzling thing is that before I was able to see all TV and Radio recorded programmes on the same list and never had to press the yellow button to change from TV recordings to Radio. Anyway I'm thoroughly delighted to have been helped to resolve the problem.
Thank you all again for your interest and your replies.
