At the end of the day. What real difference to do any these index's make?

All the stories in the Express etc?

Are the bears rushing out getting a bargain house? No.

Are the bulls seeing another 10 grand or so in their bank account when the figures go up?. No.

    It's very old hat.

When you see every house for sale in an area with an asking price 30%+ than they were in 2007 it would be fair to say prices crash.

I was looking on Zoopla yesterday.
My own property is valued 20 odd grand over what I thought it was. OK, take 3% off that. Lovely, you can buy it. I'll take the loss.....

Im still seeing price falls where i want to buy so no reason to rush out and grab myself a bargain.

What are you allowing prices to fall to so i know when to take the plunge ?

Yes, it's true and time you peasants learned your place.
Do not try to get above your station again. We are keeping you down there. No hope of ever getting an average house under 160K.

We will allow HPI to stagnate around 175K. You will have to work 24/7 to keep a roof over your heads. That is our long term aim. :rotfl:

Was that a loud 'POP' I just heard? 159K and still falling. Sorry Sib.

Nationwide -0.2%, Land Registry -0.6%, now Halifax -2.4%..........

    I think I see a pattern emerging!

It's quite foolish to think house prices couldn't drop, you let yourself down Sibers.

We've been up this road before. Even when index's say prices have dropped.
Sellers just sit tight until they rise again.

None of you have ever bought a bargain house have you?

Sibley, you have a very "one way" view of the world.

I'm sure some sellers do not "just sit tight until they rise again". Maybe some do, but many will just take what they can get for their property and move on. Not everyone treats the property market like a cash till, you know.

ALL of the sellers i know need to sell, this is because they bought a new build during the boom and know if they dont get rid of it asap they will have it repossessed at some point.

There are thousands more like them.
