Come on Brit.
You must admit this thread is funny.
Made me laugh and I ain't half glad rices didn't drop under 160k...:rotfl:
Oh but they have, here is some cheap rice at $8000 a Kg.:DIveSeenTheLight wrote: »Shouldn't you have raised this after prices dropped below 50%, even if your timeline of Christmas 2009 was incorrect.
Sibley at this point of time is still correct.
You at this point of time are still wrong.
As I said a billion times already, I reckon they would of if interest rates weren't cut to 0.5%. We all learn, I learned at what extreme levels the BOE would go to prop up the market or possibly most importantly to devalue the £ in this currency war over exports. I admit it I was wrong, lets see if Sibley can do the same over the next couple of months.
I have learned a lot more about economics since then but one thing I am sure on is prices will keep falling because the current prices are unsustainable.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

he said "we", to be fair. quite an important difference.
my impression of sibbers is that he's from a longish line of [most likely council] tenants who somehow thinks [or, more accurately, hopes] that by becoming 'a homeowner' he's joined the elite.
nothing personal but the man's a dimwit. even if he was "right" about this one thing it's be of no consequence - if you get something right but are completely ignorant of why it's right [e.g. a schoolkid randomly ticking boxes in a multiple choice grid] then, well, i'm not sure it means much.FACT.0 -
With Sibley's trusty sword of truth the vile HPC boil has been lanced.
With Sibley, MrRee, yourself and all the !!!!!s I get this impression of Sibleys brain.
Any more and you may have to borrow Nollags straight jacket Sibley.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

You are half right.
Yes, my mothers side were all council tenants. We lived in London.
I can't think of more decent people than who I grew up with.
Owning a home hasn't made me elite. What is has done is to make sure my finances are in a lot better shape than my parents.
Oh by the way. Just to gall you.
I've not only had one right to buy and made over 100k out of it. I've had 2.... :rotfl:

Why not start with updating your signature
You say you've learned a lot more, yet also think that house prices are not sustainable.
Why then did they rise again in 2009?
Why will property become continually cheaper when the population expands and we are not increasing the relative supply to match?:wall:

I don;t know about Sibleys circumstances, but I do know how this might be achieved.
A few years ago, my wifes grandmother started to deteriorate and they approached the council (whom she had been a paying tenant of some 50+ ) years for flat for some adaption, which they refused.
My FIL then bought the property under the RTB scheme and put in the adaptions needed to aid in his mothers elderly years.:wall:

I never broke the law and I have never claimed any benefit.
I just took the chances put in front of me. If you did the same you wouldn't be renting.
Don't worry. My last house was bought and paid for text book style. We love Sarah O Grady0 -

Well, Sibs, if [as I think you’re implying] you’ve moved up a notch or two on the socio-economic ladder compared your parents then I [in all seriousness] take my hat off to you, that’s rarely an easy thing to do, regardless of ability or effort.
But I do take objection to the way you portray higher house prices as something that benefits “we, the people” or similar rubbish. I think the reasons why have been fairly amply covered on the site already.

My parents, grandparents etc bought under the right to buy. They thought it was wrong but took advantage and yes it was wrong. We don`t have enough social housing. The houses were sold off too cheap. £8000 for a 4 bed house now worth £180,000.0 -
