OMG it is NOT illegal!!!! You just attend like you do the JC
I doubt very much your brother has refused to go tho the WP as its not his choice . The JC send you there and if you do not turn up you WILL be sanctioned
But he has not 'signed' anything as I said it makes you wonder... he is fulfilling his job seekers agreement to come in every 2 weeks.. he just doesn't want to go to the WP where they send you to some back water job for £2 an hour cleaning bins or brushing the roads,
(cant say I blame him)
isn't the WP where the JC send you to a company anyway?
what are you on about attending the JC? you only do that to sign on yes? or have i missed something?
and so far several people on here say its illegal ? 0_o• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -

IF you are actually saying he hasn't signed the form to allow them to share your info such as your CV then no he wont be sanctioned.
No the WP is not where they send you anywhere.
What do you mean what am I on about? You attend the WP office just you would the Job Centre and yes I know you just sign at the job centre but I just attend the WP office, get my homework then come home, thats it!
I think you will find its probably the people who aren't on the WP who are saying that thinking everyone is going to be made to work for free where they is no job for a paying person at a company but they will abuse free labour!0 -

Why would they need £150k to do what is a part time job.
That is proven !
The fact that most have on average 4 other positions shows it to be "part time"
Most of the cabinet are millionaires and that was before they got their part time jobs. What do they know about how workers on NMW has to do to make their wage last a whole month, these millionaires are living in a different world to the average working people struggling to get by.:o

In principle I agree with you - but the reality is that producing goods here in the UK is costly and it is more cost effective for a manufacturer to transfer their production facilities to Eastern Europe and Asia.
British consumers cannot have it both ways. They want cheap food, clothes and household goods - but most will not be prepared to pay a premium for home produced and manufactured products.0 -

Precisely. It would be great, but it wont happen.
People dont want to pay more for things. Even some things from China are now becoming too expensive for retailers to buy from and sell at a reasonable price. When I worked in buying, Bangladesh was starting to become more attractive for example, because you could get the same product for cheaper - problem was the quality was worse, but once they improve, lots of items will start to move there - as it once did for China.
So god knows how much things would cost if they were all made here - And no one here would want to work the insane hours that chinese people work in order to get things made on time.0 -
Every week we hear of something closing with X amount of jobs lost, and its rare you hear of any new companies opening, the job market is dead and the government doesn't have a clue how to fix it, sure they have silly things like the work programme which only real purpose is to make the unemployment numbers look better than they are, I just wonder how much worse can it really get before it gets better?
I totally agree with you. There will always be a work programme of some sort though which you will have to attend it pleases the taxpayers. It keeps people in jobs too.:footie:0 -

It keeps people in jobs who run the work programme, however its stops companies creating jobs as why pay someone when you can get someone in on the work programme for free.0
