Back to the original topic, I disagree. I still think the hpc will continue (prices fell bymuch more than my rental costs in my area in the past year). The houses I looked at this time last year are still on but now on at asking 20k less.

I like the thought of them twisted up and broken.:rotfl:

I think they started off pretty twisted up and broken already.

They say people start to look like their pets. Maybe something similar happens to sockpuppet owners.

    WHY!!

What odd behaviour, and of course rubbish, for whatever reason it is you want house prices to remain high.

Look Sibley, it's not that I am bothered that ANYONE wants prices to now remain stable or higher, even though I do see at as misguided in many cases.
But what does annoy me is when people like you BS and get nasty about it(also noticed your crass comment on those Llyods people losing their jobs).

Everything thing about your posts stinks of fear of a crash

But the problem with that site is that whatever the outcome it's all about one side suffers and one side does ok,
I am not into getting off on doing better than the next man, I just think that there are many serious housing issues in the UK that sites such as HPC do not address.
There are 25 million households in the UK, 50% of them are non mortgaged. Out of the remaining 50% are mostly just normal everyday type families that just live their lives in the HOMES(not investments) and have done so since the 50's to present day, they would make a killing whatever prices they sold at, crash or no crash.

And then there are a sizable minority who in the last decade have borrowed well over their means along with mant heavy indebted speculators. The whole UK housing market is now frozen because of this one group, badly needed housing is not being built because of them.

We do not need a site like HPC, we need something that is far more pro active.

Sibley, you've got more socks than Primark. How's the missus doing by the way?

If you have only come on the site to cause offence why don't you thin out?

    Another one........

[link to HPC - Switching to Bull Status]
    That was me. Obviously.

I was never a natural bear, having been an EA and small time developer before I STRd. But I adapted to the obvious realities, got out of agency and posted on HPC as a bear for over four years until last week. Anyway, having called the 2007 top, the 2009 rebound and the 2010- stagflation (I prefer biflation), and (having become increasingly bullish) bought a little refurb project in early 2011, I thought it was only fair that I post my call for the bottom of the market last week.

I fully expected to be banned, especially as I changed my status to Bull. And of course I was - as ruggedtoast alludes to above, they now do this by changing your membership from "members" to "new members", which means your posts and profile are still visible, but you can't post (or PM).

HPC is still great if you want to discuss the nature of money, alt-economics or the conflicts of society. As a forum to argue the future of house prices or the real economics that affect us all it has been highly flawed since before I joined it. That's why places like this (hidden forum) and GEI and creditcrunch.co.uk and the sadly lamented GHPC sprang up. For me though, the future probably lies in action rather than discussion.

    Failing that, CC or FTA.

    Hi Timm.
Hi Hamish. You were always my second favourite PermaBull :)

    Recovering crashaholic?

Not really - I sold a 42 foot Springer (a rubbish and tiny narrow boat) on a residential mooring in order to STR. Now we've got a period barn conversion in a west oxfordshire village. That progression is (scratches head) about 75% down to knowledge I gained from HPC posters in 2004 - 2008. Most of those posters have now been banned or silenced.

Oh, and despite my own somewhat arbitary treatment, HPC (as an entity) is right about a lot - namely what is wrong with finance - and how everyone is going to have to pay for the mistakes of the people who wanted to take all the rewards of getting it right. (Although Injin is right in that 2012 is the year that the [commercial] banksters start going to jail.)
