Royal Mail strikes again

Just a vent.

I recently received an unsolicited item from a company and so stuck a sticker on it saying 'return to sender' as I am registered with MPS and popped it back in the postbox.

Royal Mail sent it back to me next day (good service?) by dint of ripping open the plastic 'envelope' to see my address despite the return address being clearly displayed.

:mad::mad::mad:

Blooming cheek....

Moving on now. :)

I've had similar happen to me too, they've peeled off the labels and re-delivered them to me. A biro and a permanant marker usually obliterates my address enough, hope they don't start opening them!

I thought of doing that but want the company to know who has sent it back so that they won't send me anymore junk! Have taped up the envelope, added more stickers and drawn arrows towards the return address.

Simply returning the unwanted mail probably won't have any effect as once received back, the company concerned will probably just stick it in the bin.
You might be better off contacting the company, advising them that you are registered with the MPS and asking them to delete your details from their mailing list.
You should be able to do this by e-mail as well as by a written letter.

maybe a hint from the postie for you to explain why its RTS
    not known
    refused
    gone away

nice to know if someone simply doesnt want an item, or is saying the person has moved away

Why on earth does the postie need to know?

Actually the sticker I print off says 'registered with MPS' but that's just a message for the company but I expect that the postie can read it too.

why, well how do they find out who lives and doesnt live at a property(or just decides to pick what mail they want)?
you realise when you return stuff,it goes right back to the same postie?
so it saves time to be able to return stuff rather than go out, deliver it and then wait for it all to come back to you again
if the sticker says "registered with MPS" and nothing else, what do you expect a postie to do?
    if in doubt,deliver as addressed

I think the bit where OP said they had written RTS might have been a guess.
so stuck a sticker on it saying 'return to sender' as I am registered with MPS and popped it back in the postbox.

I cover up the address but not my name so they know who has sent it back :) I also mark as junk or unsolicited mail.

If i've opened it by mistake I will bin it so I only send them back unopened.

Currently having an issue with 3 companies sending me junk. Emailing them asking them not to, and double checking my account settings (not turned on mailings for any of them) has not worked so far

all you need to do is give reason
    RTS doesnt say why
    so refused,addressee gone away etc
many posties will still send back RTS,but to toe the line
it should be full covered by the reason
As i say,RMs auditors will(and do) fail incorrectly endorsed mail
