I say again
RTS isnt a reason for return
RTS mail is an auditable item in delivery offices
every item needsto have reason applied to it
so perhaps the postie wants to know,as I already said
muppet indeed
Funny that just asked my postman what the rules are now, i tell him that someone who claims to be an ex postie on an internet forum site claims different, he asked what you did you type, so i showed him, RTS stating MPS is a valid reason.
oh and do you mind the not including the personal remarks. I could fire back a few to you, but have the decency not to.0 -

well thats shown me hasnt it
oh wait no it hasnt
since you claim to have spoken to a postman (see how that works?)
P3960 doesnt lie
A postie may choose refused, however thats not the reason given0 -
You're assuming the postie even knows what MPS is. I'm betting many people have never even heard of them0

Are you expecting us to all have an ample supply of these P3960's at home to stick on every piece of unsolicited mail that come's through our doors? Never had i have mail returned to me from Royal Mail, i just scribble my address out and just write RTS, It's just another case of jobsworth.
What a waste of money delivering it back to the household who didn't ask for it in the first place, excuse me miss, i know you don't want this but state a reason then pop it back in the post.....
If the OP is subscribed to the MPS, should the post of come to their door in the first place, someone isn't doing their job properly. You're assuming the postie even knows what MPS is. I'm betting many people have never even heard of them
Mail Preference service? (guessing) It's the same as TPS isn't it just for post.0 -

For extreme clarity... the sticker says' Return to Sender' unsolicited mail, addressee registered with MPS as I wrote in my first post.
Very clear? Got a reason? I use it a lot and it's only with the holiday cover recently that the problem has arisen. No need to keep defending poor practice. And I was just venting..0 -

I think the point being made is when RTS is initated, RM need to assign a reason to it from the pre-selected list of choices. Being MPS registered isn't on that list and therefore isn't a valid reason. So in your cirsumstances 'rejected' would be the reason for royalmails sake, and the fact you are MPS registered is for the senders sake only.
Saying this, we regularly receive mail for the previous tenants from collection agencies. We used to write 'RTS - not at this address', but now just write 'RTS' and put a line through the address on the front -- never had a letter returned to us.0 -

why would you
they are for delivery staff to offically condemn mail
yu say jobsworth
exactly the same as anyone where a rule doesnt suit them
I had the same attitude from folks when I wouldnt sign for items, leave items etc
The MPS is nothing to do with deliveries
As i said before. If in doubt deliver as addressed0 -

you mean the person who wont know who lives at what address?
you can drop the attitude
As you have proven my point. the postie is most likely ensuring they are covered by confirming the reason for return0 -

as I said before, many will just return the item
however to toe the line and be covered
they need to be sure0 -

I really don't understand you!
Do all posties know who lives at every address on their round?
What attitude - I was only clarifying something you muddied.
The postie didn't ask me to confirm my reason for return, just posted it back to me. Stupidly useless action which only provoked a vent.
If the postie wants a reason they s/he should flipping well ask for it and make the actions clearer. I've never had an item returned before but perhaps it's because my usual postie is very good, very organised and I give him a christmas box each year??
Now I know that I have to write REFUSED on the item I will add that to my sticker.
Sheesssssssh kebab.. what a nasty place some people in some forums are!
Thanks to those who helped. As for the others...
