Is there ice in the outlet pipe near the drain?
  • pouring soda crystals down the plughole can help.

As it is in the bathroom do you wash your hair in the sink?

Hair in the trap and waste pipe is favourate.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

If you dont want to dismantle anything get a bottle of Mr Muscle Sink Unblocker or similar.

If that doesnt work, you will need to unscrew the trap under the sink...

There are variuous types, but here's an example...

If you do remove the trap, put a bucket or something to catch the water & crud that will fall out. And be dead careful when reassembling not to cross the thread... in other words make sure it screws back up smoothly & easily.

    Good luck

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.

No, i dont wash my hair in it, but i have given the plughole a good clean anyway just in case.
Also, no ice anywhere (we muct be the only place in the UK without ice atm!!).

My next step is to unscrew the trap, so thanks mallymal, i will do that later. Fingers crossed it will sort the problem out!

Do you brush your teeth in it? Toothpaste can clog sinks, especially if chunks of it fall down the hole. Mr. Muscle unblocker is great for getting rid without all of the mess of doing it manually.

Yes, we do brush our teeth in it.
I am going to do the trap thing now and then buy some mr muscle unblocker to use on a more regular basis i think.
    Thanks.

Have you not got a sink plunger? £1 in a pound shop (as you'd expect).
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
