OS Daily Sunday 5th February

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morninng all
We have snow, only an inch or so but it's enough. I shall go for a walk later to see if the roads have been gritted & if there is any chance of getting up the hills. Last time it snowed the gritters didn't get his far as the hills were deemed too steep & too dangerous for the gritter lorry to attempt. If the roads haven't been gritted then I shall attemt to walk to work as anyone within 3 miles has to make it in or be the subject of disciplinary action. Anyway I'll worry about that tomorrow, if I feel it's too risky I'll take a couple of days off & blame it on work induced stress.
Today's plans include doing some washing & getting it dry on the radiators & having a sort out of my freezers & then some knitting, I'm going to make my DD another Mobius scarf.
Stay warm & keep safe everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning HH and all who follow.
We have had quite a bit of snow through the night. It looks beautiful but i do hope it doesn't hang around. I hate driving in it, especially through all of our little country roads. It doesn't feel that cold today as yet.
Lamb for dinner tonight with veg. Must do that other massive pile of ironing. Won't be going anywhere today, thats for sure.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning Hester, Forever and all to follow.
We too have had a lot of snowdont like it at all. DS will probably go out in in later then it can disappear
Had a completely lazy day yesterday  apart from cooking dinner I stayed in front of the fire all day. Well today will be making up for it. House needs tidying and loads of washing to be done.
We are meant to be going to pizza hut for dinner today as they have a special on and we also have a giftcard from Xmas. Will see what the roads are like later I guess.
Thats it for now, think will have a little look over the boards then get on with it. Have a great Sunday (((hugs))) to whoever wants/needs one.x0 -
Morning all.
Loads of snow here too! Must be about 8" - it was up to the spaniels' shoulders anyway. They now have snowclumps hanging from their ears!
Just been out to let the chooks out. They took one look and went back to bed.:rotfl:
Managed to get all jobs done yesterday including grocery shopping so we won't be going anywhere today except over the fields with the dogs.
Lovely joint of YS beef for dinner - it's ages since we had beef as it is now so expensive but I can justify £4 for a joint since it was marked down from £8 and will do us for two meals.
RA has flared up badly and my hands are so sore. Will have to get the kids to peel the veg for dinner. I am hoping I can manage a spot of ironing while The Archers is on.....

Morning all - lovely white hills and garden outside. Snuggly and warm inside as OH put coal on the fire before he went to bed, which kept it lit until I put wood on at 6.15! YEY. He's going back to work today (he's been off for 10 days as I collapsed mentally and physically). Am all better now - I think, but the fact that I'll have to manage DS1s increasingly violent behavioural issues on my own is starting to concern me. But there's no other option! For the moment.
Tea today is chicken casserole, mashed spuds and veg with berries and yogurt for pud (or something like that!!!!!) Ought to swish through the house today to keep it looking good - that means another tantrum from DS1 as he needs to pick up the toys on his bedroom floor!! Might take the boys out for a snowy walk later. Hugs if you need them.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all, hope you're all staying warm and cosy today. More snow here and I'm another that hates driving in it, so I'm hoping it doesn't take too long to clear away. I work at the bottom of quite a steep hill that doesn't get gritted so I'm extremely nervous about going to work (and getting home rather) on Monday - argh! I'm trying to let that not impact on my Sunday though. Got to go out in a bit and clear the snow from the car but have woken up with a headache as I think I got too hot in the night. Beyond that, there's not much planned today. I'm going to roast a chicken and do a full roast dinner.
Hope everyone has a good day. Keep warm!

Morning All,
Snow here in Hastings. OH has none in West Sussex, they only had rain! He was due to go to an exhibition in Birmingham today, made him promise that he wouldn't.:o
My cousin was due in at Heathrow from Australia at 5.25 this morning, hope she managed to land okay.
Just had weetabix and hot milk, haven't had that for ages, reminded me of childhood:rotfl:
Cat is sitting on the window watching people, not attempting to go out tho!
Going to stay in, keep warm and watch the rugby.
Have a good day!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning everyone,
We have lots of snow here in Nottingham.
Came home early from the cocktail party last night (due to my bad cold getting the better of me) to find my children and most of the children in the street having a huge snowball fight!
We still have standing snow this morning so I will probably go for a nice long walk after church.
Don't know what plans the children have but we do have a sledge that needs christening.
Hugs to all in need and those in difficulties because of the snow.
Tea tonight is roast pork with lots of vegetables including red cabbage (my favourite).
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning everyone.
Had a fair bit of snow south of Brum but boooooo it's thawing alreadynot going to take the kids sledging as it's too wet now it's thawing so will kick them out in the garden to make snowmen instead.
Road chicken for lunch, ought to do some baking if I can be bothered
Not much else going on here:o
Esmf - hugs lovey I didn't realise how bad it had gotten for you xxx Is it DS the one you are trying to get a diagnosis for who's being violent?
Hugs and spoons all round. Stay safe and wrap up warm xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning,
Lots of snow here in east Kent, 3 dogs & 1 cat running around like mad things, 1 cat sulking on the windowsill:) Checked the pond & the pump is struggling valiantly so there is still a trickle of moving water although there are also some very pretty icicles, have put some seed etc out for birds, refilled their water dish & have lit the big candle in the coffee jar which sits in the middle of the dish & stops it from freezing up completely & that is it for outside, am staying indoors for the rest of the day
Dinner today will be pork chops & roasties etc, with apple crumble & custard for afters and as the heating will be on I will do a wash & get it dry on the radiators. Other than that I plan to curl up on the sofa with my kindle & laptop.
Hope everyone manages to stay warm & safe x
ESMF ((hugs)) for you & anyone else who needs them x
Take Care x
