Great? Tactics?
http://phone-shop.tesco.com/mobile-phones-and-sim-cards/pay-monthly-phones/O2-Apple-iPhone-4S-16GB-Black-1d51443e-71fb-4959-9e61-3a5df33ab25f
300+unltd+500Mb for £0+24*£32 and £35.35 TCB cashback.
Am I missing anything?
And, ignoring the cashback, as a similar airtime costs £8 at talkmobile, paying 24*(£32-£8)=£576 for a handset that costs £499 is in fact a loan with 15% APR.
On '3' you can get about the same for 24*£30 with some cashback.
Hi Grumbler... thanks for your reply. When I said 'great' I meant compared with the extra 76 O2 want from me for the same deal, however crucially it's the extra 200 bonus minutes which Snake Eye mentions that I need.
FYI, Quidco are offered £60 cashback on the same tesco phone shop deal.
I've not heard of talkmobile, however the SIM only tariffs do look interesting. The reason I've been looking just at Tesco mobile or O2 is that I'm happy with the O2 coverage in my area and have no idea what talkmobile coverage is like. There is just sooo much information out there, it is a complete minefield. I'll look at the coverage map for talkmobile - see how they fare where I live.
I have seen the 3 deals, but I have heard bad things about them and would be nervous about switching to them if the coverage turned out to be poor in my area. I've read some scare stories about them 'switching off' 2g coverage so when 3g becomes available you're left without a signal. Plus I use the phone a lot in hospital and 3g is not always that great behind big lumps of concrete.
When put as plainly as you have, taking a contract to get an iPhone4s does seem an expensive option. I can afford to buy a new phone outright, I guess I am just feeling nervous without the security of a contract if things go wrong!
Thanks,

WRT the signal, talkmobile = vodafone.
And no, I didn't advocate '3', I just mentioned them. My apologies for misunderstanding about extra 200 minutes.0 -
I am currently on O2 £35 a month iphone 3gs 24 month plan. I get unlimited free o2 to o2 calls, 600 texts, unlimited internet, unlimited wifi plus 600 mins to other networks. I am due to upgrade tomorrow.
O2 have offered me iphone 4s for £37 a month (for 24 months) with 900 mins, unlimited texts, 1GB internet, unlimited wifi, unlimited free o2 to o2 calls and 50 picture messages.
Is this a good deal?0 -
Well, ignoring "unlimited wifi, unlimited free o2 to o2 calls and 50 picture messages" it seems to be the deal that any new customer can get (£41-£4).0

Cheers Grumbler, is there anything else i could try getting them to add to the package. I don't like the idea of losing my unlimited internet but o2 don't seem to want to budge on that one!0

paulryan99 wrote: »Hi all,
been waiting for a while to renew my deal with O2. Just got off the phone with O2 and was offered an Iphone 4s
£32 per month (24 months)
£75.20 for the handset
300 mins
unlimited texts
unlimited wi-fi
500Mb
I'd probably go with this but was hoping to get some advice from those more experienced in haggling. Is it been too cheeky to try and get a better price and/or free case?
Also I've tried searching other companies but get confused with all their offers so if someone wants to recommend another phone company (I'd sooner keep the initial handset cost as low as possible)
Thanks for any advice
That works out at £834 over the two years.
I got a 12 months deal, £185 for the phone, was originally £37 a month but I told him I didn't want 500mb data because I don't use that much, so I got 100mb, plys 200 extra minutes and free o2 to o2 for £32 a month. Total for the year is £569.
So in my eyes, that's not a good deal you've been offered. All I did was told them I was off to tesco for their 12 months deal, I wasn't even up for a renewal, I was mid way through a sim only contract. I told him it still worked out cheaper to buy out my contract and go to tesco for the 4s than it would to upgrade with them.Sigless0
