o2 retention deal on an iphone: is it worth it?

Hi all,
been waiting for a while to renew my deal with O2. Just got off the phone with O2 and was offered an Iphone 4s
£32 per month (24 months)
£75.20 for the handset
300 mins
unlimited texts
unlimited wi-fi
500Mb
I'd probably go with this but was hoping to get some advice from those more experienced in haggling. Is it been too cheeky to try and get a better price and/or free case?
Also I've tried searching other companies but get confused with all their offers so if someone wants to recommend another phone company (I'd sooner keep the initial handset cost as low as possible)
Thanks for any advice

Quick look at https://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/brands/apple/iphone-4s-16gb-black/ shows that new customers can get about the same for £0+24x£31 on Vodafone0 -
Nope - far too late for this. The iPhone 5 is due out later in the year, go for that instead.0
-
Or you can go for tesco mobile sim only also on O2 for £10 a month 500 min And buy iPhone 4s sim free.
The cost is £10x24 plus £500 for phone. Per month£30.83 inc phone. O2 come to £35.13
Down side is you need to send £500 to buy the phone.
If you have £500 to spend check other sim only deals as might get more for your £
Do it via quidco and you will get 3% off iPhone0 -
You should wait for the next iPhone, There is very little difference between the 4s and the 4, its not worth getting stuck in a 2 year contract with it when the next in is due for release in the ~summer0

You should wait for the next iPhone,
It's a personal choice whether to wait for half a year or not to.
Nobody 'should' wait except fans obsessed with having the newest phone at any cost as soon as it is released.0 -

same tariff but on Vodafone.....free phone plus a quid cheaper.....and if went through quidco a potential £50 AND potentially unlocked Iphone 4s.....
but if o2 is the only network you want just ignore this deal.0 -
similar to you my contract was up yesterday with o2 and i phoned for a iphone4s.
i got (eventualy) the phone case and screen protector for £30.09
300 + extra 200 mins
cant remember texts (but enough)
500 MB
24 months x £32
quite happy as i wanted to stay with o2
hope this helps.0 -
I picked up from my discussion it is a trade off.
One year deal = higher phone cost + the plans are £5.00 dearer
Two year deal = cheaper handset better value plans
My theory was my iphone really started to misbehave after 18 months - unless you pay £60.00 which I did for year's extra warranty - this came in handy when the volume button fell off.
Also with a shorter deal you are likely to get a higher price if you want to sell your handset. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi Snake Eye - Just wondering how you managed to get such a great deal from O2? What tactics did you use? Did you have to pay anything upfront for the new handset? I need exactly the same deal as you - 300 mins is not really enough but having a bonus 200 mins would be perfect! O2 are not playing ball with me and have only offered the bog standard deal for me:
300 mins
500mb data
3k texts
24 month contract
£32 per month plus £76 for iphone4s handset
I have been with them for 2 years and am 6 months out of contract. I'm paying way too much (over £40 a month incl VAT for my iphone 3gs, 600 mins, 500mb data and 3k texts). They have given me my PAC code but the other deals I have found all have downsides. I would rather stay with O2! What am I doing wrong?
Thanks - all advice appreciated!

Great? Tactics?

300+unltd+500Mb for £0+24*£32 and £35.35 TCB cashback.
Am I missing anything?
And, ignoring the cashback, as a similar airtime costs £8 at talkmobile, paying 24*(£32-£8)=£576 for a handset that costs £499 is in fact a loan with 15% APR.
On '3' you can get about the same for 24*£30 with some cashback.0
